Johan Martin Ferner Has Died

Johan Martin Ferner, the husband of Princess Astrid of Norway, passed away this morning at the age of 87.

The Norwegian Royal Court confirmed the news, issuing a statement from King Harald which read:

“It is with deep sadness that we have received the news that Johan Martin Ferner has passed away. Our thoughts go to Princess Astrid and her family, who have lost a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.”

Mr Ferner, an Olympic medalist for Norway at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, died peacefully at the Olso University Hospital at 05:25, local time. He is survived by his wife, their five children and five grandchildren.
