Dutch Royals on State Visit to Oman, Day One
On January 10, after leaving the UAE, Queen Beatrix accompanied by the Crown Prince Couple arrived in Oman for a three-day state visit. After landing in Muscat, they were welcomed at the airport by Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said.
An official welcome ceremony took place at Al Alam Palace, where the Queen had an audience with the Sultan along with the Prince, the Princess and excellencies and the official delegation accompanying the Queen in this State Visit.
In the early afternoon, the Dutch Royals made a visit to the Bait Al Zaibar Museum where they had a themed lunch and also a meeting where they discussed development of the country, economic diversification, education and the role that women play in Oman. After the lunch, the Queen with the Prince and the Princess, attended a meeting at Al Bustan Palace Hotel with the presence of Omani and Dutch businessmen, ministers and the official delegation that accompanying the Queen. The meeting was focused on developing the economic and commercial cooperation between the Sultanate and the Netherlands.

In the evening, Sultan Qaboos bin Said hosted a state banquet at Al Alam Palace. Before the dinner took place, the two monarchs exchanged gifts and decorations. The Sultan conferred the Renaissance Grand Order on Prince William Alexander and the Order ‘First Class’ to the Princess Máxima. Queen Beatrix conferred orders to members of the family, ministers and senior officials of the Sultanate.
