Carlos Zurita’s 68th Birthday

His Excellency Don Carlos Zurita, the Duke Consort of Soria and Hernani, Grande de España celebrated his 68th birthday yesterday, Sunday October 9th.

Don Carlos Zurita is the husband of The Infanta Margarita of Spain and thus a brother-in-law of His Majesty The King. Born Carlos Emilio Juan Zurita y Delgado in Malaga in October 1943, he married the younger sister of King Juan Carlos on October 12th, 1972 at Estoril in Portugal. The couple have two children: Alfonso, born in 1973, and Maria, born in 1975.

In April 2003, the Duke and Duchess of Soria were awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Alfonso X by King Juan Carlos. Better known as The Duke of Soria, Zurita has attended many royal gatherings over the years, including royal weddings, funerals and state banquets.
