Today, December 22, the King's Christmas speech has been recorded in the White Dining Hall at Huis ten Bosch Palace. IT will be broadcast on Christmas Day on NOS on NPO 1, NPO Radio 1, online and on NPO 2:

That is a nice room for the annual Christmas message and it looks more festive than in recent years with the tree outside and the candles.

There was some criticism on the extreme right for the King not posing in front of a christmas tree, who are adament that there is a war on christmas - which there isn't. But they forgot the significance of the candles of advent (and the christmas tree outside). Queen Beatrix also never posed next to a christmas tree.

I like the fact that the king uses a different room each time.

The First Christmas speech by the king was the most festive ,with the fire and the Garlands.
I can see why he was criticised as there were a few years where there was nothing festive at all.

I recall Queen Beatrix's Christmas addresses had an exterior shot of the Christmas tree outside?

They surely discussed the formation of a new government as Ronald Plasterk (former minister for Education representing the labour part (PvdA) has moved to the right politically and is now leading the discussions about forming a new government after being asked to do so by the populist-right wing freedom party.

It's interesting that he is now talking to the king while some parties in Parliament accused him that he has not kept his word about what the talks were going to be about but he will only report back to them in 2 weeks.
