Pascua Militar 2011 - Letizia recycled last year's outfit:

I wish she had worn an updo. Her hair looked messy after standing in the wind outside.

I like the blue - greyish colouring of the outfit.
Putting her hair together would be a better idea.
Her foundation seems a bit too dark, comparing to her neck (or maybe it's just the light, IDK).

I like the color and the skirt but not the jacket. Her hair looks horrible, and it has nothing to do with being outside in the wind.

I like the outfit too. It doesn't look too grey, thank God! Her hair is a mess, I have to agree with Emmily.

I think her outfit is too casual. And she should really do something different with her hair.

maybe they were on skiing vacation over the holidays, then you usually look like that - brown in your face - the rest white
probably again in switzerland like last year

Yes, it may be.
Although, when I saw more pictures, the difference doesn't seem to be so big, so maybe it was just the light in the one picture I saw before.

The face / neck colour difference is a constant feature when Letizia is doing her own make-up. It may be different when she is professionally styled what hasnt happened for some time now (ususally on State occasions).

Having said that, this event is a State occasion too and I think it would be a good idea to at least book a hairdresser. Looks very professional, as we can see with the Spanish minister of defence who had her hair put up. Its not that difficult, just follow the example of Queen Sofia in that matter, as promised on engagement day.

I like the outfit, but she looks like she slung it on and ran out the door. Hair and make-up not done and no jewelry except those little star earrings that we have seen again and again and again this last year. In other words no effort. Im not sure I understand this. Such a pretty skirt, she could have looked gorgeous.

I have noticed that lately Letizia favors the gray color, in many of her business appearances, she looks quite serious, it is nicer when she matches her gray with other colors!!!

I thought she wore red velvet last year and she wore this blue outfit to another formal occasion but not the military ceremony on Epiphany.

Does Letiz look fed up? Is the boredom of royal work getting to her?

The blue skirt is really pretty and quite a grand piece but the satin jacket and t-shirt dont go well nor makes the look grand. Its a pity that she does not get a hairdresser to do her hair, its not even straightened nicely IMO.

I actually dislike this a great deal- seems like she couldn't decide between dressed up gown or casual business attire.... IMO not one of her better ones

Yes, the styles of the skirt and the jacket don't really go well together. But with the jacket closed, a simple shirt underneath and the hair not so wavy (which to me looks even more messy than when she has straight hair) I like this outfit better than last year. The colors become her well, IMO.

More nice pictures of the outfit and hair from pureople

I get the impression she's bored too. Maybe she's just having a bad day.

Letizia appeared very engaging at the reception, talking to everyone. She always recycled a lot. She didn't have many winter gowns, because there were not many occasions wearing them. On her hair, she should have tied her hair up like Carme (the defense minister) at a rainy and windy day. I hope she would do that next year, now with Carme setting the example. If she were the first one, a certain press sector might even criticize her trying to upstage the Kings with her new hairdo (aka Diana at the State Opening of Parliament).

Back in the good old days when Letizia still looked professional at events, incl. State occasions and had her hair done professionally, was she ever critizised by the media of upstaging the Kings?

To me it seems the institution has worn her out after five, six years already, she looks plain bored and frustrated by all the limitations and the fact that the media is using her to sell papers by focussing on whatever she wears - ugly, nice, average, it doesnt matter. Therefore she doesnt make an effort any longer, there is no difference in the coverage about her.

She wasn't before, but it doesn't mean she wouldn't now. Recently even JC's biographer (Jose Luis de Vilallonga ) came out complaining about the Princes were overly exposed, monarchy should be more King, less Prince, blah blah according to JC's camp, a criticism full of nonsense.
The 1st picture was from early 2005, long time ago, the 2nd one was a tiara event, updo was pretty much expected for a tiara event.

Probably it is what she did .

The Pascua Militar is the day of Three Wise Men, and that is a problem when you have 3 and 5-year-old girls, who are very excited and nervous opening their gifts and playing with them. It is a bad day to have an official act at 12 a.m., I think the only concern they have is being able to arrive on time.

IMO Leztia's fashion of late reflects the somber Spanish economic crisis. I too miss her polished formal look-

If that were the case it would seem that the entire family would dress as she does and present themselves in a less polished way. But they don't.

I like the blue long skirt. The shiny jacket doesn't seem to go with it tho. Her hair looks better curled imo.

You don't see there are incredible double standards out there ? It started with Cristina's white Armani pantsuits (very similar to Letizia's) at her engagement with Inaki. On the other hand, I don't think Cristina or Elena has been well groomed all the time. Sometimes they looked like face not washed, I hope they were told to pluck their weed eyebrows.

I find that an excuse. Even if the economic crisis have effected the family, there are still decent outfits you can buy on budget but in Letizia's case its not that. She does not seem to be able to mix & match the right way, she is trying to be modern, fashionable & trendy but it's not working in her favor as she is going for the wrong pieces or trying a bit too hard. She can buy great pieces at Zara & Mango but she isnt. She is going for teenager's dresses, dresses that are too short and so on.

If it was really crisis, then Christina wouldnt be in Armani suits for almost every event, Elena wont be carrying different Chanel bags at every event & Queen Sofia wont be in Valentino couture dresses (new ones - Swedish wedding) :flowers:

The make up difference is obvious but nice eye make up. I don't like the outfit, its very boring and the length of the jacket is quite along for her figure size IMO. I do like the coat.
