Thank you for those pictures. According to 'De Telegraaf' Her Majesty commented on her visit and said that she actually enjoyed them very much, and she added 'en dat mag ook wel eens gezegd worden' (That may be said for once as well), thus urging the reporters to print this comment of the queen. I think that was a nice gesture of her to all the people who organise these visits & all the people who she meets.
She furthermore stated that the visits were planned while her parents were still alive. Because of this the program in the Dutch Antilles will be shorter then she intended, at that time she felt uneasy to go away for to long.

Marengo, thanks so much for once again providing some background information to the pictures. It is easy enough to find pictures of the Dutch Royal Family and generally figure out what's going on, but, not being able to understand Dutch, I am of course missing the interesting details - the story behind the pictures! So I really appreciate your comments. :)

After what must have been a very sad year for the Queen in 2004, it is nice to hear that she is enjoying her Jubilee Tour. I wasn't aware that Her Majesty has a trip to the Dutch Antilles planned. Do you know when the tour will take place?

August 13 2005 As part of her Jubilee celebrations, the Queen is visiting Apeldoorn today. These are pictures from her visit to the museum at Het Loo Palace, where she unveiled the painting "Vivat Oraenge" (circa 1670) by Jan Davidsz.

The painting has been acquired in honour of Beatrix's jubilee celebrations.

For more on the acquisition of the painting, see http://www.vivatoraenge.com/

Wonderful pictures!Really great. Thanks lots, Squidgy,Her Majesty looks really regal.

Great to see such good pictures from the celebrations! Thanks Squidgy for posting these, they are very nice. It's nice to see Queen Beatrix wear a more "normal" hat, she hasn't gone "all out" in her fascination for hat designs this time :) This light pink colour also suits her really well.

I like the last picture of The Queen with a girl most. It's a great and wonderful picture. Thanks you so much Squidgy.

Congratulations to Her Majesty!

Congratulations to Her Majesty Queen Beatrix!! I hope she is happy and enjoying the celebration of her silver jubilee. She has had much to cope with in the death of her husband and mother in so short a period of time.

She looks radiant in the pictures and I do like the hat!

Yes GrandDuchess and Tiaraprin, I really like HM's hat too. It's a more traditional style for her. (However I must confess I also like the more creative designs she often wears, but understand they are not always to everyone's liking). But I think the best thing she "wore" yesterday was her smile - she really seemed to be enjoying herself.:)

So anyone know when will Her Majesty's next engagement?
Will there be any Thanksgiving Service for Her Majesty's Silver Jubilee in The Netherlands like Queen Elizabeth's in Great Britain?

I know that the next time i and a lot of people with me will see her in apeldoorn at the wedding of her nephew Prince Pieter christiaan who will marry Anita van Eyk at 25 th of august. Ill be there to make pictures of the royal family.:D :D

:D :D :D Yes, it is verry exicting to meet them again!!!!!

It should be, I think I will be joining the crowd in Noordwijk, which is near my own hometown (Katwijk) next saturday. It would be nice to see it all in real life.

August 17 2005 As part of her Jubilee celebrations, the Queen paid a visit to the Netherlands Architecture Institute. In tribute to HM's 25 years on the throne, the Institute has reconstructed an exhibit very similar to the one that they created for Queen Wilhelmina's Jubilee in 1923. Also, as part of the celebration, they have an exhibit highlighting the last 25 years of Dutch architecture. More at: http://www.nai.nl/e/calendar/activities/royal_e.html

August 20 2005 As part of Sail 2005, the Queen christened a boat "Beatrix". The sailboat was given as a gift to the Queen in honour of her Silver Jubilee by the Prinses Beatrix Fonds. It is meant to be used by the physically disabled.
