Yes, thanks! :flowers: When I've posted the gallery, it had not been updated with pictures of all of them yet..

King Willem-Alexander helped building a fairytale garden for small children at Kinderboerderij De Veenweide in Soest.

Wonderful as always to see Princess Beatrix.

One of my favourite Dutch royal events and doesn't Princess Beatrix have such green fingers!

And here she is again, the wonderfull, vibrant Princess Beatrix on the national volunteer weekend NL DOET!A delight to see her.

Annoying to be, well required to do a paint-job when you are not dressed for it.
No matter how careful you are, you'll still get paint on you.

And here we have someone using a round brush (and not too big!) on a table!

Might just as well have used a toothbrush.

It seems that no other member of the RF is participating this year.

Princess Beatrix is still injured from a ski accident I believe so I guess that is why she isn't there?

It's the NL DOET volunteer action's 20th edition this year and Princess Beatrix started with helping on a city farm today, March 15. She also helped feeding the two lambs Bea and Trix ;)

Such a great day!
I do wish the girls were more involved, especially Amalia. But understandable if their studies have them busy.

It would indeed be wonderful if the princesses would get involved in NL DOET as well. This year is the 20th anniversary of the event, so that would be a great moment to start. There are various activities over the weekend, so it should be possible for them to join one of them for a few hours.

However, of course Alexia is on her gap year so could be anywhere in the world and Amalia's presence would require a lot of security presence; Ariane is still under age and at school in Italy. So, while I hope Amalia and Alexia show up somewhere, I don't keep my hopes up too high.

Nonetheless, I do expect some other family members to show up at various activities over the weekend.

Participation was low this year: only the king, queen and princess Beatrix... No royals showed up elsewhere on Saturday.

Previously, it was a great day to see many members of the RF contribute in some way but it seems the Van Vollenhovens are now completedly focused on the Holland 100 in March to the detriment of NL doet. However, that doesn't explain that Constantijn and Laurentien no longer are yearly participants either.

I completely agree with you, it's disappointing that participation has declined so much.
Volunteer work is such an important aspect, such a valuable support in and for society, which we simply cannot do without, because otherwise so many things wouldn't be possible. Its importance cannot be emphasized enough. What message does it send when fewer and fewer members of the royal family promote it? It would be great if the three princesses would set an example and participate.

And it very much fits with the country's identity as well as the Netherlands is very much a country of volunteers. The country has by far the largest percentage of people volunteering in Europe.

I understand NL Doet Day is a two day event. Beatrix will take part tomorrow.
Im hoping for an appearance from Amalia. There is really no excuse why she nor her sisters have ever taken part of this.

For what it´s worth: according to the podcast 'Royal Tea' [two weeks ago or so] of Rick Evers and Odylia de Ranitz, Prince Constantijn commented to friends about this. They wondered why he and Laurentien were not doing more, as they moved from Brussels to The Hague to have a role simular to Pieter and Margriet. That was the expectation at least but the reality is that they have a very limited role. Constantijn supposedly said 'Máxima'. Just to say that the focus on just a few key players may be very deliberate.

I thought people had accepted this but didn't say it out loud because the focus was mostly on Maxima, and since she is a favorite, they just let it slide. I've only seen a couple of people pointing it out on forums, but they were also ignored (pre-COVID times),
it's a shame that people then get angry at Constantijn and Laurentien (especially since they just moved in).

:previous: What do you mean by the just moved in? They moved to The Hague 10 years ago.
