Moroccan Royal Jewels

And the magic Moroccan gold belts ... Down are pictures of salma with gold belt and other style.
I guess it's unique to wear a belt made of Gold. That remember me of Rania' gold shoes, but maybe the Moroccan gold belt had Ottoman origin. The link down says Ottoman women wore belts made/set with jewels.

Belts and sashes (uçkur)
...
  • Sashes were made of a folded and seamed length of linen, measuring approximately 2m long by 15 cm wide. They featured elaborate gold-embroidered end panels, around 12-15 cm long.
  • Several 16th belts in the Topkapi Saray Museum are presumed to be women’s. They are of ivory, silver or mother of pearl plaques, joined by links or mounted on leather. The are elaborately decorated with gold or silver scrollwork, and set with jewels. Their length would indicate they were worn around the waist, not the hips.

Meryem belt style. Pictures show small to medium size (compare to the one salma wore in previous post) ... yet Meryem belts are not always made fully of gold ... it's true beauty is also in simplicity ;)

Yes they are stunning :)

As we noticed the princesses don't wear (often) their Tiara ... Hasna in blue with her father to US state visit in 1995, she wears her wedding earrings and necklaces ... definetlly beautiful and suits well the dress.

Thanks Abir for the article..Interesting....

NB: Morocco was never under the Ottoman empire..but this does not necessarily mean no influence from Ottomans whether in terms of clothing, cooking or other things..

You are welcome monamona.
An interesting remark ... However I believe that could happen during commerce exchange between North Africa and Orient.

I dont think I've seen the sisters of the King wear tiaras at any state visits either. The only time I've seen pictures of them wearing tiaras was at their weddings.

I wasn't aware that the Royal House of Morocco had some many beautiful jewels.

Hi HRHAmy! It's generally the custom that the belt often made of Gold and precious jewels are used to state the title of the royal member instead of the tiara.

HRHAmy said:
How come Lalla Salma doesn't wear her tiara for any gala events? She wears her other extravagent jewelry and I've seen her Moroccan sister in-laws wear their tiara's but not her, the only time I've seen Salma wear her tiara is for her wedding. Does anybody know why that is?
:flowers:

Well, Dear Members, here I go again. Pant, slurp, DROOL. Thud. I must now go and get some chocolate to restore myself. do they have chocolate in Morocco I wonder?

The clothes and materials and colours are just gorgeous. This thread has also reignited my love affair with rubies. I think the idea of belts is wonderful but my major complaint, the King and I will have to have a heart to heart talk about this. All these gorgeous women MUST start wearing tiaras and the rest of it. A belt cannot take the place of a tiara.

This thread is wonderful. First there is actually a picture of JUuan Carlos of Spain smiling. He always seems to be such a doleful chap. Then there is the picture of Hilary actually looking pleasant and smililing in the nicest picture I have ever seen of her. She has just gotten a new (Moroccan) dress. Then there is Collin Farrell smiling in Moroccan costume. Lovely. then there are all those drop dead gorgeous pictures. Now if only those women could be made to sprout tiaras. Confound it.!!!! Cheers.

I agree Thomas, although I love the belts I wish the royal ladies of Morocco would wear their tiaras:cry: , they are so beautiful. OH well maybe someday!

Thank´s Lilo! Do you know when was taken first pic?

the photo was taken in Morocco but i don't know when exactly maybe between 2003/2004 not sur.
