In her working paper presented on Wednesday in the conference in Bahrain on "Empowering woman politically and support her participation in decision making" Rousan added that Jordanian woman has had ambition, leadership, and culture elements, but rather there are still obstacles and challenges encountering her, such as her commitment to tribal values, tradition and habits, and male authority in the rural areas. Pet0582 4 1160 King Returns Home Amman, Dec. 15(Petra)-- His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home on Thursday concluding an Asian working tour that included Japan, China and Thailand. During his meetings with leaders of the three countries, the King discussed means to develop bilateral ties. latest developments of the peace process, the situation in Iraq, as well as Jordan's efforts to clarify the true image of Islam. In Japan, King Abdullah met with Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko and expressed bride over the strong ties between the two Royal families. The King also met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and the grand advisor of the Japanese democratic party and discussed with them bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East. The King and the Japanese officials stressed the necessity of supporting Palestinians to deal with the stage that follows the Israeli withdrawal and develop the economic circumstances of Palestinians, noting to the role of Japan in this regard. They also pointed to the Jordanian and Japanese support to all Iraqi people to participate in the elections. His Majesty also expressed thanks to the Japanese government over its technical and financial support to Jordan. On the other hand, the King met with heads of several Japanese economic bodies where he discussed with them scopes of economic cooperation, noting to Jordan's Keenness on developing ties between the Arab business community and its Asian counterpart. In addition, the King briefed them on the investment climate in the Kingdom, noting to agreements signed between Jordan and several international sides. Concerning His Majesty's visit to China, the second leg of the King's tour, King Abdullah held talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao during which he stressed Jordan's keenness on developing ties with China, especially in the political and economic spheres. The two leaders stressed the necessity of the Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank with a view to establish a Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in line with the Roadmap peace plan, affirming the Chinese role in supporting the peace process. Regarding the situation in Iraq, the two leaders stressed the importance of speeding up the process of building Iraq and ensuring the success of the political process there. For his part, the Chinese President expressed his country's support to Jordan's stance against terrorism. Regarding the economic field, the two leaders expressed desire to increase cooperation between the two countries, especially in trade, technological, qualifying human resources and energy fields. The King and the Chinese President attended the signing of two agreements whereby China presents two grants to Jordan to implement projects of joint cooperation in several fields. King Abdullah also met with head and members of the Islamic Chinese Association. The King pointed that the meeting comes to discuss challenges facing Muslims, noting to the importance of cooperation to spread the true Islamic values. In Thailand, where the King concluded his Asian tour, King Abdullah held talks with Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej on means to promote bilateral relations between the two Kingdoms. During the talks, which were attended by the Thai Prime Minister, the two sides exchanged views on mechanisms of developing joint cooperation, especially in the economic, trade, cultural, and investment fields. Talks also covered political developments in the Middle East, especially in Iraq and Palestine. The Thai King hailed efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East. King Abdullah briefed King Bhumibol on Jordan's efforts to clarify the true image of Islam, which respects all other religions and supports the values of coexistence, understanding and tolerance. On the other hand, King Abdullah and the Thai Prime Minister attended the signing of an agreement to protect and encourage investments. King Abdullah also delivered a speech at the Chulalongkorn University before a number of political, academic and Islamic leaders as well as students and Muslim youth. The King said in his speech that Islam rejects targeting civilians wherever they are, noting that Muslims in Jordan, Thailand and all over the world reject extremism. Pet0672 4 0641 King Holds Talks With Romanian President Amman, Dec. 19 (Petra)-- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday held talks with Romanian President Traian Basescu on the bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and trade fields as well as the latest developments in the region. His Majesty stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, adding that the visit which the Romanian President is paying to Jordan and the meetings he will hold with officials from the public and private sectors will contribute to enhancing cooperation relations between businessmen in both countries. The King said that Jordan, that has a special position in the region, will give greater facilitations to the Romanian private sector and will help it reach the Iraqi promising market. For his part, Basescu remarked that there are many fields and opportunities through which the two countries can benefit, adding that his visit to Jordan aims at meeting His Majesty King Abdullah and to be aware of his vision towards enhancing the bilateral relations and towards the regional issues in addition to discussing the best ways to deepen the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of economy and trade and to find ways to implement the agreements that will be signed during the visit. The President said that Romania is expected to join the European Union next year, and that will give privileges to enhance the economic relations between Jordan and Romania and the European Union in general. Basescu pointed at the cooperation between Jordan and Romania in the field of education as there are many Jordanian students who graduated from the Romanian universities. During the meeting, the two leaders affirmed the necessity of the International community's support to prevail the just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and to help the Palestinians and the Israelis going forward in the peace process. His Majesty the King and the Romanian President reviewed the situation in Iraq. King Abdullah expressed optimism that the Iraqi elections will create a parliament which represents all Iraqi parties and will enhance the security and stability in Iraq. Pet0818 4 0466 Queen and children honor memory of victims of Amman bomb attacks Amman/Dec.19(Petra)-- Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, on Monday, joined a group of school children in honoring the memory of men, women and children killed in the attacks. Accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Princess Salma and Prince Hashem, Her Majesty, together with children from a number of schools in Amman, planted trees in memory of the victims, celebrating their life and the continuity of hope, giving and peace. The Municipality of Greater Amman has allocated an 11-dumon plot of land which will be developed into a park, to become known as the Amman Martyrs' Park. During the event, Queen Rania was also briefed on the Municipality's future organizational and structural plans for the park, which include a slot for flowers and trees, playgrounds for children and a commemorative area for the victims of the attacks. Since the attacks, which took place on November 9, ripping through the Radisson SAS, Grand Hyatt and Days Inn hotels, Queen Rania has repeatedly expressed her solidarity with the Jordanian people, taking pride in their courage and resilience in the face of such vicious acts. On a number of occasions, the Queen has also underlined the need to treat the emotional and psychological traumas suffered by the victims through counseling and support, to help them deal with the unimaginable and sudden loss of loved ones. In light of this, and in the week following the attacks, Queen Rania launched a national system for crisis intervention and psychological support for families and victims, an initiative of the Jordan Society for the Protection of Family Violence (JSPFV), which was established in 1998. wow... Queen Rania amazes me more & more.. not only she did a gracious thing with the children on a memorable subject, but she took her children & teach them from the early years on good deeds... little Salma looks so cute..

on the last pic from petra, you can see the scratch PHashim probably gave himself on the chin!!! sooo cute what they can do to themselves at this age.:p my little sis does that all the time.

It's very sweet of Rania to take her children with her but it's not a new thing. I've seen photos of Hussein when he was very young accommpanying his Mum on trips.
 
oh yes she takes her kids along with her all the time. But like purple platinum pointed out, taking her youngest kids to this event commermorating the victims of the bombing is particularly important. I think QR must feel that its important to teach children, including her own, about this tragedy.
