Victoria commented her father's heart operation to TT News Agency today in Sydney:
- Unfortunately, this is something that sometimes needs to happen. But personally, I feel very confident that Dad will be in good hands. And I am grateful for the help that you can actually get in Sweden, says the Crown Princess on a visit to Sydney.
Victoria and Daniel are on an official visit to Australia at the request of the government. On Thursday they fly to New Zealand, where another three days await with a busy schedule in Wellington and Hamilton. The program is scheduled to end on Saturday afternoon.
TT: Does the king's operation affect the trip?
- No, it won't, says Victoria.

"The Crown Princess couple's official trip in Australia and New Zealand is being carried out according to plan", writes the court in an email to Hänt Magazine.
Margareta Thorgren also confirms in a message to Hänt that several of the king's missions are postponed and that it was planned long ago that Victoria would arrive home the morning he is to have surgery.
"Most of the programs are postponed. No need for change in the Crown Princess's journey. She will come home on the morning of February 20th”, Thorgren writes.

Viveka Frykman-Kull has been the royal family's chief physician from June 2022. She told to Svensk Damtidning that the King will undergo a surgical procedure and it will be a catheter operation. So there is no question of any open surgery. Her task is to make sure that he feels well and receives the best care possible. She can't say much more. The King has the same right to patient confidentiality as everyone else.
Viveka Frykman-Kull is a cardiologist and specialist medical director at the heart clinic at Danderyd Hospital, where she researches cardiac arrhythmias. She is also Sweden's first female chief physician, an assignment she describes as important and honorable. Since she works at Danderyd hospital, SD asked if the King's operation will take place there? Frykman-Kull said that she will not comment on where the procedure will be carried out. She didn't answer the question if the procedure will be done under anesthesia or with local anesthesia either. She said that there is a plan and the King is fine. After the procedure, he is recommended to take it easy for the next 14 days.
You are Sweden's first female chief physician. What does that role entail?
- This means that I am the royal family's first contact in the healthcare system and that I am responsible for their medical care. If necessary, I provide contact with other specialists.

Today King Carl Gustaf has his heart operation. Chief physician Viveka Frykman Kull will be there. She says that this has been planned for some time.
According to the court, there is nothing wrong with the King's general health. Monday's operation will take place in one of Stockholm's hospitals, but the time and place are being kept secret. As a result of the operation, the King has postponed his engagements between 20 February and 3 March. Frykman Kull says that the King has been recommended for a couple of weeks to rest and take it easy, so they hope he will be back soon.
Viveka Frykman Kull is a senior physician and works among other things, as specialist medical manager at Danderyd hospital's heart clinic. The operation takes place on her advice, but with the King's approval. As with all types of treatment, it takes place in consultation with the patient. It goes without saying, she says.
TT: Has the King been in the healthcare queue?
- Yes, it makes no difference if you are the King, but it is the medical needs that determine how long you wait.
Viveka Frykman Kull is the first female chief physician of the royal family. She shares the role together with docent and chief physician Lars Wennberg, who is responsible for Victoria and Daniel (he was with at Daniel's kidney transplant operation). Viveka Frykman Kull takes care of the rest of the royal family.

Margareta Thorgren said to Svensk Damtidning that the King is still in the hospital and that they don't intend to go out with when he might come home. The Queen has greeted the King after the operation. The royal family's chief physician Viveka Frykman Kull was present at the operation and it is up to her how long the King remains in the hospital.
The whole family, also Madeleine, have been in close contact all weekend before this operation. The family has always kept in touch. Svensk Damtidning asked if the rest of the family also visit the King in the hospital? Thorgren said that Victoria has just returned from Australia, she landed earlier today. And Madeleine is in Miami. Of course they have received information on an ongoing basis and they are all happy and grateful that the King is doing well and that things have gone according to plan. Now they will wait until the King is home before they go out with any further information.
Svensk Damtidning asked if they will tell what kind of heart problem it was that the king had fixed? Thorgren said, that in that case, it may be later. Now the King remains in the hospital where he is under the care of chief physician Viveka Frykman Kull. But they do not say how long he will stay there. They will not tell in which hospital the surgery was performed at until the King is discharged and back home.

The Traditional Swedish King's Rally will be organized on Saturday 26th August.
At Ölandsmagazinet's Summer issue:
King Carl XVI Gustaf usually takes part in the Swedish King's Rally with the Volvo PV60 that he received in connection with his 50th birthday, but at this year's rally the layout is a little different since the King is not only celebrating 50 years on the throne but also 60 years behind the wheel.
Kjell Gehammar, general manager of the King's Rally, thinks it is at least as important to highlight 60 years behind the wheel, which is the theme this year. Instead of driving only his Volvo PV60 as usually, this year the King will drive the rally's sections in different cars, which he owns or has owned. On the first leg towards northern Öland, he will see his Volvo P1800, one of his first cars. At the second leg, the King will drive the Porsche 911 Targa in which he and the queen were photographed in 1973 at a petrol station in Borgholm, which is the first known picture of the royal couple. The last leg the royal couple drive in an electric car, a Volvo C30 Electric from the early 2010s.
