The young elephant Prince has died at Kolmården Wildlife Park.
Prince was born on Kolmården on March 17, 2020. Prince's mother was King Carl XVI Gustaf's elephant Bua and father Queen Margrethe's elephant Tonsak, both gifts from the King of Thailand to the respective royal houses.
What caused his rapid illness is still unclear, but Kolmården awaiting test results and an investigation from the Swedish Veterinary Institute.

- The queen has done a covid test and it was negative. She has a common cold and out of respect for others, she chose not to go to Dubai. The king went earlier today, alone.

Margareta Thorgren said today to Svensk Damtidning that queen Silvia has recovered from her cold.
- It was a bad cold that started at the end of last week, but now the queen is free from it.
So we will see her at the Swedish Academy's formal gathering on Monday?
- Yes, that's the plan. The royal couple and the crown princess couple attend from the royal family. The formal gathering will be adapted, there is a limited number of guests. But everything depends on the pandemic. Should there be new restrictions, this can be changed.

Queen Silvia celebrates today her 78th birthday.
The Queen's birthday is a public flag day. The birthday is also an official salute day. The Swedish Armed Forces therefore fires salutes of 21 shots from Skeppsholmen's salute station in Stockholm and from the salute stations in Boden, Härnösand, Karlskrona and Gothenburg.

The King and Queen, who have both received 3 jabs of vaccine, have tested positive for Covid-19 with mild symptoms. Contact tracing is ongoing & the royal couple has isolated themselves in their home at Drottningholm palace until further notice.
 
Like so many this new years,hopefully the king and queen are not in too much discomfort.

On Monday night, the royal couple tested positive for covid-19.
- The royal couple has very mild symptoms, but based on the fact that the pcr test gave a positive test result, they stay at home on Drottningholm. The royal couple was tested based on the fact that people in their vicinity had symptoms. It was a security measure, says Margareta Thorgren.

The King and Victoria were listed to attended at the annual Folk och Försvar National Conference (Society and Defence), the conference was changed digital last week and the King and Victoria will take part in it on next Monday and Tuesday.

Changes at the court calendar to the program of the King and Queen due to Covid-19:
Victoria attends alone at the digital Folk och Försvar National Conference (Society and Defence) on 10-11th January and
Victoria and Daniel attend instead of the King and Queen at performance "Fira demokratin 100 år" ("Celebrate democracy 100 years") at Annexet at Avicii Arena.

But Margareta Thorgren said to Svensk Damtidning that the court has canceled all the King's commitments in the calendar in the future after the covid message came, because the King is now in quarantine. However, it is not impossible that the King will actually participate in the digital conference next week, if he feels well. Today he is well and is basically symptom-free, but that can change.

King Carl Gustaf has recovered from Covid-19 and will participate digitally in Folk och Försvar National Conference (Society and Defence) next week. Queen Silvia is feeling well under the circumstances, the court tells.

A birthday gift to Queen Silvia in 2020
Finnish craftsman Tanja Matilainen wanted to surprise Queen Silvia on her birthday. She has been involved in cross stitch works for more than twenty years.
- I love the royals and especially the Nordic royals. When autumn came, I thought what would be the next work now and then I remembered that Silvia had a birthday at Christmas time. I decided to make a portrait of her.
Matilainen sewed a portrait of the queen on the canvas, she had previously noticed that Queen Silvia liked handicrafts. Crossstitch works can be seen in the photos taken of the queen.
In January 2021, Matilainen got greetings from the royal court, a very nice letter thanking for the gift, with two photographs.
Louise Törneman, a lady-in-waiting, had written the letter in English on behalf of Queen Silvia.
- On behalf of H.M. The Queen I wish to thank you for the birthday greetings you so kindly sent on Her birthday as well as the wonderful crossstitch portrait of Her Majesty. The Queen appreciated your gift very much, the portrait is so cleverly done and also very beautiful!
The royal letter is stored in a place where no one can destroy it, Matilainen laughs.

The queen was on site for the funeral on Friday in Trosa city church.
Among the many people that Signe has portrayed, are the royal children and Princess Desirée, as well as many others from the nobility and society, and Silvia has always had a special appreciation for art.
Signe was a descendant of Wilhelmina von Hallwyl, art collector and founder of the Hallwyl Museum in Stockholm. Signe's portraits have also been exhibited there.

Blomsterfonden inaugurated Queen Silvia's Jubilee path in Liseberg on 20th May.
During the anniversary year 2021-2022, Blomsterfonden has chosen to invest in developing and improving our outdoor environments with more stimulating meeting places in the form of beautiful flower beds, cultivation places. Our 100th anniversary patron, HM Queen Silvia has a great commitment to the elderly and dementia care, which makes her patronage much appreciated. The inauguration was led by the association Blomsterfonden's chairman Ewa Samuelsson, who cut the ribbon at the entrance to the Jubilee path.

A cottage in Turku archipelago, where the newly married Swedish royal couple visited in 1976, is for sale.
Built in 1970, the cottage, nicknamed the “Kungalow”, is located by the sea, at the end of a road that ends, so the royal couple once got the privacy they needed. The area was owned by Scan-Auto's CEO Claes Rydman, and the royal couple was his guest. Locals know that the couple has been there since that weekend with short visits. They arrived by helicopter. The visit is evidenced by a plaque of thanks given by the royal couple, it includes the autographs of the royal couple and the date of the weekend stay. The 43 square meter cottage is in almost the same condition as in 1976.

The King has today decided on medal awards for the HM The King's Medal and the Litteris et Artibus medal.
The HM King's Medal, from the first half of the 19th century, is awarded for special merits.
Litteris et Artibus was founded in 1853 by Crown Prince Carl (XV). Litteris et Artibus is Latin and means science and art. The medal is awarded for outstanding artistic contributions in mainly music, stage production and literature.
Among the recipients is former prime minister Stefan Löfven.
Medals are awarded at the Royal Palace on Friday 10 June.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended last Friday the wedding of king Carl Gustaf's goddaughter Vendela Brodin, 28, and Olof Rämsell, 36.
Andrea Brodin's daughter Isabella was bridesmaid. The mother of the bride, Queen Silvia's friend Eva Benita "Putzi" Brodin, wore a golden frock dress with a floral bodice and transparent sleeves.
It was very private wedding.
Artist Carola performed at the wedding and describes the wedding as both warm and grand.
