Right, life goes on and this is yet another day where we really need a positive diversion.
The DRF-coverage in BB this week is massive!
Summary of article in Billed Bladet #12, 2016.
Written by our reporter at the court, Trine Larsen.
The coverage of the ball for the arts continues this week, this time with focus on what happened at the ball after the dinner.
And let's start with a bit of trivia: Mary's necklace/tiare was bought by Mary at an auction.
Mary know several people within the auction-world who can be of assistance, among them Nina Wedell-Wedellsborg who is the Danish manager for Sothesby. - I don't know if BB is hinting something.
The article only states: It's rare such jewels are for sale, so when the Crown Princess was made aware of the unique necklace she struck. - End quote.
After the dinner QMII and Frederik entered the dance floor, dancing to Sinatra's Come Fly With Me. More entered the floor, among them Mary with her table-partner, the Minister for Culture, Bertil Haarder. And Frederik stayed on the dance floor dancing with his mother for the next tune as well, Armstrong's What a Wonderful World.
QMII, whose back didn't seem to bother her, danced on a few more times, among them her good friend the actor Joen Bille and the manager for Tivoli, Peter Bo Bendixen.
The ball ended with Les Lanciers, where the DRF directed those less accomplished in that particular dance under general merriment.
Our Marie wore her flower-tiara but also a diamond brooch.
Now for some comments afterwards from those who took part at the ball. I'll focus on what they had to say about the DRF.
Rasmus Seebach, who was seated next to Mary: "The clock isn't a bit before five. (reference to a song) It's twenty to two and it's been a formidable evening. It's really been a beautiful evening. Just like a fairy-tale. It's been cool. I had the Crown Princess as table-partner. I'm very honored about that and about this evening, so I think I'll sleep well".
Thure Lidhardt, who was late: "... I sat at Princess Marie's table. I sat across from her, so it was limited how much I spoke with her during the dinner, but I did speak with the Princess after the dinner. She's incredible sweet and funny and interested. A very dedicated person".
Jan Gintberg, stand-upper: "I did terrible at the dance-floor. I've never danced lancier before. I danced backward at some point, where everyone danced forward. I had a good seat next to Princess Marie and got to hear that you can learn Danish at a very high level in an incredible short time. I thought Princess Marie spoke a very accomplished Danish. And then she had a good sense of humor".
Caroline Henderson, singer: "The party offered nice wine, nice food, champagne and not least lancier. I did that one really, really well. We were in a royal kvadrille (dance-group of four, here with a royal) and I was a bit nervous about that, because one doesn't want to spoil it, but I'll put it like this, our kvadrille was the wildest and most fun. And I've been flying. My husband and Prince Joachim saw to that. It was fantastic. We've had a great evening".
Ulf Pilgaard, actor and QMII-impersonator per excellence. For him this was the fifth ball: "... Today it's very relaxed and cheerful and I have a feeling the royals actually enjoy the parties just as much as the rest of us do. And yes, it's a very grand party and extra cozy because we are many who know each other...".
Camilla Pedersen, athlete: "I sat next to Crown Prince Frederik and it was a huge pleasure and I feel so honored. And then he's just a really delightful person to sit next to. He is also well versed in the world of sport, so that was really an experience. There was talked a bit ironman and a bit about various sports and he also told me about some places in the world where he had been and where he thought I should go, so it was some good hints he came up with...".
Søren Østergaard, entertainer and QMII's table-partner: "... I had met the Queen many times before (each time he has a show, she's there!), but being table-partner, that sure is something else. - The Queen is so knowledgeable, wise and easy to talk to.
We were phoned a couple of days in advance before the party and asked whether Lisbeth (his wife and actress) could dance in the Queen's kvadrille. But Lisbeth didn't have much time to practice, so we were excited to see how it would go. But also here the Queen was understanding, and she kindly/sweetly directed and dragged Lisbeth back, when she was dancing the wrong way around".
