Dutch State Visit to Sweden: Day Two

Today, Wednesday October 12, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima started their second day in Sweden by attending a business roundtable with Their Majesties King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, government representatives and CEOs of Dutch and Swedish companies. The meeting was focused on “green energy transition, shifting supply chains and opportunities for strengthened collaboration”.

Then King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima had a meeting with the Dutch community living in Sweden. At lunchtime Dutch King and Queen attended a luncheon hosted by the president of the Citizen Council of city of Stockholm and held at the Golden Hall of the City Hall. The Royal Couple was accompanied by King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia.
In the afternoon the Royal Couples paid a visit to the energy company Stockholm Exergi arriving by an electric hydrofoil built by Swedish boatbuilder Candela. At the headquarter of the company, which “works to secure the Stockholm region’s access to heating, electricity, cooling and waste services”, the Royal Couples toured the KVV8 bio-power plant and the Stockholm Exergi’s research facility for bio-CCS and they were informed about “the company’s plans to build Europe’s first large-scale plant for negative emissions”.
Afterwards King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, along with King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, visited the SciLifeLab, a scientific center working in the life sciences and other areas. During the visit they were informed about “technologies to study cells and initiatives for precision medicine”.
The second day ended with a concert held at Stockholm’s concert hall hosted by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima for King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia were present as well. The royals watched a performance of the Dutch violinist Tim Kliphuis.
