Emeralds and Amethysts at Gala for the Norwegian Stortinget
Members of the Norwegian Royal Family welcomed the Norwegian parlement at Oslo’s Royal Palace tonight for an annual gala. During his speech the King joked that earlier this year the press agency NTB declared him dead.
The gala was attended by the king, the queen, the crown princess and Princess Astrid. The crown prince was unable to attend as he is in Thailand for the cremation ceremony of King Rama IX.
The royal ladies looked their best as Queen Sonja used her emerald parure. The crown princess opted for the amethyst necklace-tiara while princess Astrid had two small diamond feathers in her hair.

The gala for the Stortinget was introduced in 1906 by King Haakon VII. It has been held every year since, with the exception of WWII or in years when the palace was under renovation.
A thank you to TRF poster Royal Norway for providing the information.
