King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia Open Carlos III Exhibition
Today at the Royal Palace in Madrid, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia opened an exhibition focusing on Carlos III, the Spanish King whose efforts assisted in the modernisation of the country in the mid-1700s.
The pair were shown around the exhibition, titled ‘Carlos III: Majesty and Ornate in the Scenarios of the Illustrious King’, by its curator, accompanied by a number of official dignitaries. The 131 pieces on shown are themed around the ‘courtly art’ that was created under Carlos III’s patronage during his reign, and come from a number of museums around Europe.
