Belgian State Visit to Japan: Day Five in Osaka

Today, Friday October 14, the fifth day of their state visit, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde left Tokyo early in the morning for a visit in Osaka, the second largest city in Japan.

Upon their arrival, the Queen attended a symposium held at the Convention Center of the Kobe University. The symposium, entitled “Collaboration in response to societal challenges between Kobe University and Belgian Universities”, was organized to mark the collaboration between the Kobe University and Belgian Universities.

In the meantime King Philippe attended a meeting with members of the Japanese chemical industry to promote a collaboration with Belgian industry.

Afterwards the Royal Couple paid a visit to the Yamamoto Noh Theater, the oldest theater of classical Japanese musical drama. The King and the Queen attended a theater performance.

In the evening King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended a concert held at the Knowledge Theater. Performers of the concert were Melanie De Biasio, a Belgian jazz singer and Jef Neve, a Belgian jazz and classical music pianist and composer. They were accompanied by the orchestra of the Nagoya University of Arts. The concert was organized by the Flanders Center Japan and the Embassy of Belgium in Japan.
