King Juan Carlos on Official Visit to Morocco

King Juan Carlos paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco from July 15th until July 18th. This official visit was postponed earlier this year as the King was due for surgery and thus the visit was rescheduled.

The King was greeted upon arrival at Rabat-Salé Airport by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid. The Spanish Monarch was later the guest of honour at a private dinner hosted by King Mohammed which was attended by his wife, Princess Lalla Salma, and other members of the Royal Family.

The following day, King Juan Carlos laid a wreath at the mausoleum of King Mohamed V and later signed the guest book. Following this, he went onto open the Spanish-Moroccan Business Meeting at the Hotel Sofitel.

The Kings of Spain and Morocco held a private meeting at the Royal Palace in Rabat and later both monarchs paid a visit to the National Library in Rabat. The Prime Minister of Morocco and other government met with King Juan Carlos on Wednesday July 17th, the Spanish King later hosted a reception at the Spanish Embassy.

On the final day of his visit, King Juan Carlos was presented with ‘the golden key’ to the city of Rabat at a ceremony presided over by King Mohammed VI.
