Queen Máxima in New York and Washington
On Tuesday May 7th, Queen Máxima was at the UN headquarters in New York to meet the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, to discuss the issue of the inclusive finance.
As part of her function as Special Advocate of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in the field of inclusive finance for development, Queen Máxima attended the regular meeting of the international advisory board and she also had a chance to talk to representatives of various organizations, like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The same day, Queen Máxima met Helen Clark, the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
On Wednesday May 8th, Queen Máxima went in Washington to visit the World Bank where she met the President of the Bank, Jim Young Kim, and several vice-presidents.
Since September 2009, Máxima is special advocate of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, for inclusive finance for development (UNSGSA).
