Queen Sofia’s Visit to the Philippines

Her Majesty The Queen embarked on a five-day visit to the Philippines on Monday July 2nd, 2012.

Queen Sofia was accompanied by the Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Latin America and was warmly received with full honours at the Ninoy Aquino Airport in Manila.

This visit by Queen Sofia is her third visit to the Philippines and follows previous visits in 2002 and 2003. The Queen will be able to see at first hand work carried out on development projects funded by the Spanish Government through the Agencia Española y Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo.

Her Majesty will also attend a private audience with President Benigno S. Aquino III, which will be followed by a banquet hosted by the Filipino President in honor of Her Majesty’s visit. The Queen will also visit to the cities of Manila, Legazpi and Zamboanga.
