Felipe and Letizia in New York
On 16 and 17 March, Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia visited New York, along with the Spanish Industry Minister, as part of the “Made in Spain/Made by Spain” initiative.
On Monday 16 March they visited the Public Library of New York, where they met with importers and sellers of Spanish books, and attended a lunch held by the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce at the Metropolitan Club, where Prince Felipe gave a speech about the importance of Spanish business and exports and the role of the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce in facilitating the export and distribution of Spanish goods in the United States.
On Tuesday the Prince and Princess attended the The Spain-U.S. Sustainability Conference, where the Prince spoke with industry leaders about international cooperation in fields such as sustainable energy, infrastructure, and environmental concerns, fields that are at the forefront of President Obama’s plan to lead the United States out of the current economic crisis and lay a foundation for the future. Former Vice President Al Gore was also a speaker at this conference, and he praised Spanish industry for taking a leadership position in these important areas.
