Mary and Isabella's jewels are stunning.

Beautiful bracelet and ring, with some substantial blue stones. Query if it is sapphires or possibly, tanzanite?

Crown Princess Mary wore her Edwardian tiara for the state dinner for Felipe & Letizia from Spain this evening

A great overall look for her, but I cannot understand why she has worn the gold chain with the F for the gala dinner.

I miss something, Its a nice dress but a bit plain. Her wedding Tiara with pearls would be better.

It is such a pretty tiara but it doesn't have much life. When watching the gala it doesn't really have any fire or sparkle.

A pity CPss Mary does not wear her marvelous Ruby tiara very often. I suppose the red ruby may not have combined well with the yellow of the sash. The Edwardian tiara indeed lacks sparkle, probably due to the size and quality of the diamonds. The design is otherwise lovely. And her wedding tiara is not the most impressive of tiaras either.

A beautiful brooch and goes perfectly with the outfit.

It is a lovely brooch, first worn by Mary at Christian's christening. There is a reasonable chance she would have chosen her clothing to accommodate the brooch.

Nice to see the pearl choker again. We haven't seen it for some years.

One can only imagine what jewels are at the disposal to Mary as Queen Consort of Denmark, hopefully we will see some long forgotten jewels turn up.
Mary's queenly jewel chest will be one of the most impressive.

Don't think there are so many long forgotten Jewels in the danish Vaults

Mary's jewel chest will have a substantial upgrade on 14 January. Depending on what jewels Daisy keeps for herself and what she gives Mary, at that stage, my view is that Mary will be a good collection. But it will remain smaller than that of a number of her peers: Camilla, Maxima, Silvia, Letizia, Maria-Teresa, and perhaps, on par with Sonja.

I’ve long been impressed by what is already at her disposal as Crown Princess. It will be interesting to see what new pieces she wears.
Will there be certain jewels that traditionally only a Queen wears?

Yes. Certain jewellery belongs to the crown, worn only by the Queen. This includes the emerald parure, the longer diamond collet necklace with the pendants, certain brooches, and the ruby pendant and earrings worn by QM II.

Also, the pearl and diamond married parure is traditionally only worn by Queens.

It will be very interesting to watch the jewels Mary wears as Queen Consort!

Letizia has been the biggest disappointment on the queenly jewel front.

How exciting for Mary, she will have 3 parures, 2 of them coloured. Those emeralds will look great on her. I guess Mary's two small tiaras will be reserved for her daughters. She could also get the turquoise bandeau as I hope QMII keeps her Baden Palmette, I was sad to know she does no longer own the Floral Aigrette, but at least we know Mary will have good use for it, as she likes chignons so much!

Actually there is one more diamond Parure among the Crown jewels. But it is barely used. Queen Margrethe used it only once for the norwegian State Visit in 1991
And the disadvantage is that those Parures can only be worn in Denmark which limits their use.

Right! But that's the one QMII wore to Fred and Mary's wedding, isn't it? It's ok if she can only wear it in DK, it could become her secondary option to wear at home. The emeralds can go abroad IIRC...

Edit: nope, the Emeralds can't leave Danmark.

No that is a different one. See here:

And none of the Crown Jewels (emeralds, ruby and pearl Sets and the 2 diamond Sets) can leave Denmark.

Thanks everyone, I’m learning so much on this thread.
Although it makes perfect sense, I had no knowledge about the restrictions on jewels being taken outside the country. Presumably, this applies to all jewels owned by the Crown?

Thanks Stefan. QMII did take the Pearls out of Denmark twice, to UK (2000) and Belgium (2002).

She'll have to wear something big abroad, she can't keep on wearing her dire wedding tiara.
