She doesn't have to be trendy or hip, or even stylish. But she is the Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg- she should not be representing her country in public looking like she just rolled out of bed.
I don't think it's too much to ask that her clothes be suitable to the occasion, properly fitting/pressed, and that her hair be neatly styled. That is pretty much the minimum standard for professional dress, no matter what your job is.
Actually, I would go so far as to ask for an example of:
a. Unsuitable attire for the occasion.
b. Ill fitting or unpressed attire.
c. Hair not neatly styled. And last but by no means least:
d. Representing her country in public looking like she just rolled out of bed.
And that last accusation is pretty dire!
I agree. I have never seen her look like that. Ever since her engagement she has represented Luxembourg with great dignity and has never committed any major faux pas. The people of the Grand Duchy are reportedly delighted with her, so if the worst that can be said of her is that she dresses badly then I think she's doing great.
IMO I have yet to see anything that comes even close to "badly". I think the main complaint has been that she dresses far too matronly for her age which, when you consider the age range of her sibling not to mention the age of her parents, is hardly a surprise.
She suffers in comparison to the other Royal princesses who either have a natural knack for clothes or who have hired stylists to help them. Stephanie is a pretty girl who needs some fashion/ grooming fine tuning. She is not a failure because she is not polished...how ridiculous imo.
I would agree that Stephanie may be seen in a more negative light than other Royal Princesses but even my favourite fashionista, Princess Mary, had more than a few less than stellar ensembles when she was just starting out. And Max? Well with her personality she can and does wear some totally outrageous ensembles. But, one thing all three of these women have in common is that there is nothing cheap, tacky or with shoddy workmanship.
I agree that with hair as fine as hers the wind may take some diabolical liberties but, she starts out with a style and we can see her face (not to mention her smile) pretty well. Which is more than can be said of some.
