Thank you all for the wonderful display.

It seems that her hats becoming more outrageous with the years. Just compare the small pillboxes she wore at her first openings of parlament, to the feathery things she is wearing in recent years!

you're right. ;)
I really like her hats.
does anyone know what she does with all het hats? maybe she will open a Beatrix-Hat-museum one day . ;)

I think it was very brave to wear this hat on Margriet's wedding in 1967, when she was pregnant with Alexander. It looks like a blue octupus. :D

Post pictures of Queen Beatrix' galadresses here. :)

Beatrix has a very "special " and own style and you can see that quiet well in her collection of Gowns she wore for Galas or State Banquets. :)

some dresses she wore when she was young (in the 60s)
she wore very beutiful dresses then! ;)

this one is really beautiful:
I think it's my favourite dress :)

all pictures from Beeldbank

I like the dresses from the 60s

I agree with you popy. that dress are really nice, but not all. I dont like that first.

She had a much nicer figure in the sixties than inthe fifties, (too much puppyfat) and therefore her dresses looked more elegant. The handsome man at her side probably helped too:p

Just wondered if her choice of hat shape is to matchs her favourite hairdo. The queen almost always appears with the same/similar hairdo.

I sort of like it to actually. And it is very functional. The dress is very statuesque and one look at it and you know that that is the most important lady present.

BTW, Beatrix loves recycling to. The dress she wore at Letizia´s pre wedding dinner (post 2 of Princess Beatrix, 3rd picture) was also worn during her silver wedding jubilee, in 1991!

A new , beautiful silk coloured hat of the Queen:king:

Wow that last one in Her Majesty's post is really awful. She seems to sometimes have those hats that fit around her hair instead of her head which
looks really unbalanced in my opinion. I really liked the relaxed green one that was listed first

How strange.

I have the third hat as my nr 1.

:flowers:

If there is ever a lady walking around who can wear such a hat, then it is Queen Beatrix. And she does it with style and grace. For a lady approaching her seventies, she looks very good, these days.

That third hat from Her_Majesty's post looks like Q Beatrix took a salad bowl from the kitchen and put it on her head!!!

That was a bit disrespectful to the master-milliner who has put a lot of efforts in creating that hat.

I prefer strong and clear forms above fluffy feathers, ravaged straw or -the worst of all- a hat placed so terribly wrong (with long hair) like Máxima Zorreguieta did in Australia and New Zealand.
:yuk: :yuk: :yuk:

We must not keep out of the eye what Queen Beatrix wants to achieve with her hats: a very recognizable, dignified and prominent appearance. With succes.

Well, they are definately recognizable.... but then there might not be so many shapes of hats that can cover her hair. (tehe) For example, imagine Queen Beatrix with some of Maxima's hair pieces, like the pretty red feathered one she wore a while ago. http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/f63/crown-princess-maximas-hats-5544-2.html It is the last one in post # 24. It's hilarious:ROFLMAO:

The cap is a visor and that yellow hat looks like they plucked big bird.
