Not sure if this the right thread. The late Queen was patron of several hundred charities and organisations. Will these automatically pass to the new monarch?

Some will - those that she held by virtue of being the monarch but others will either no longer have a royal patron and others will be redistributed. With Philip's retirement and death, Harry and Andrew being stripped of their patronages and now the death of the Queen there are at least 1000 patronages that no longer have a royal patron.

Some of Charles' automatically passed to William e.g. patron of Surrey County Cricket Club - always held by the Duke of Cornwall as their home ground is part of The Duchy of Cornwall ... an aside ... last Thursday England and South Africa were to start a 5 day test match at The Oval. They tossed the coin with Charles owning the ground. After the toss they couldn't start play due to a 'wet outfield' and then the rain came. Then the news came about the Queen so Friday's play was cancelled. When they finally started the game on Saturday the ground had a new owner - William. The King will take over as patron of Middlesex County Cricket Club as that position is always held by the monarch and their home ground is the 'home of cricket' Lords Cricket Ground. The last time I saw Philip in person was at Lords, in 2015, when he came to the ground and it was the only time I saw his standard as it flew above the home dressing room while he was at the ground.

Yesterday besides following the coffin and all the other things we saw associated with that event William carried out his first duty as Duke of Cornwall ... He held a meeting via video link with the Duchy Finance Committee. He has been attending these meetings for a couple of years now but this is the first time as Duke of Cornwall.

Has anything be seen of the late Queen's 7 royal cousins this week?

The Queen's royal cousins - The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra - all except The Duke of Gloucester and The Duchess of Kent were waiting at Westminster Hall for the reception of the body of the Queen.

The Duke of Gloucester walked behind the coffin, in the third row, between Sir Tim Laurence and the Earl of Snowdon.

The Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent left the Hall with The Duke of Gloucester and both the Kent's proudly wore their army uniforms. The DM described the The Duke of Kent as wearing a 'dark suit' - he was wearing the uniform of a Field Marshal in the army.

The only one who hasn't been seen so far, and may not be seen, is the Duchess of Kent.

Some of them also were waiting outside at St James' Palace for the proclamation of Charles as king.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent were all at the proclamation with some of their children as well.

The Westminster Hall event is recorded in the CC while those attending the proclamation did so unofficially.

As for Charles having a 'day off' - hardly. After the public events on Wednesday he had 6 phone calls from Governors-General and Presidents and another 8 on Thursday. He also has the red boxes to read and go through as well. I do hope he had some time to simply take in all that has happened quietly in his gardens.

Weekly Update to 18th September, 2022

This past week has been the busiest in terms of number of engagements I have encountered in my years of analysing the CC. The King did engagements every day.

A note – I this analysis I am only including those who are HRH or married to an HRH. I have the figures for people such as Louise and will include them in my annual analysis but not the weekly one.

From this week the figures for The King, The Queen Consort, The Prince and Princess of Wales will only be those they did while holding those titles – other than the ‘League Table’ which will be based on the total figures. Again the end of year analysis will include two entries for these four people – one on their pre-8th September and one on the 8th September onwards.

MISSING DAYS:

17th and 18th September – 49 engagements (although I expect them to appear in the next day or so as happened with the engagements that were missing last week)

Percentage of Year’s total missing – 49/2262 (2.2%)

Milestones achieved this week: HM The King (84) reached and past his half-century as King and his 400th for the year (408)

Approaching a milestone: NIL

Total Engagements with Individual Percentage of Total

HM The King – 84 (10 – up 74 – 3.7%)
HM The Queen Consort – 33 (3 – up 30 – 1.5%)
HRH The Prince of Wales – 12 (2 – up 10 – 0.5%)
HRH The Princess of Wales – 6 (0 – up 6 – 0.3%)
HRH The Duke of Sussex – 5 (2 – up 3 – 0.2%)
HRH The Duchess of Sussex – 3 (2 – up 1 – 0.1%)
HRH The Duke of York 11 (4 – up 7 – 0.5%)
HRH Princess Beatrice, Mrs Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi – 9 (6 – up 3 – 0.4%)

HRH Princess Michael of Kent – 9 (7 – up 2 – 0.4%)
HRH Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy – 37 (34 – up 3 – 1.6%)

Those who have been removed are still in my figures so will appear at the end of the year or if they undertake another official engagement this year.

For the first day since the announcement of The Queen's death there is no CC for Tuesday 20th September. After the busiest 10 days I have analysed it will be nice to have a simple day in my records ... simply a yellow line through each page that says 'no CC today'.

Did the Duchess of Kent not attend the funeral? I'm quite surprised.

Do we know which children of the Kent's, Gloucester's, Michaels and Alexandra did or didn't attend?

Also any of the Lascelles in attendance? Likewise any of the late Queen's maternal relatives?

I read that only 4 of the Queen's 31 cousins are still alive which is interesting. Even so, I would have expected her to be in touch with at least a few of her maternal family, likewise with some of Philip's relatives.

I believe she is still in touch with her maternal 1st cousins children and no doubt some of them were present but they aren't listed just as members of Philip's family who were present aren't listed - or the names of any of the foreign royals or Heads of State or others.

There are 5 first cousins who are still alive and are all younger than her with the eldest of those five being Sir Simon Alexander Bowes-Lyon born in 1932. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Bowes-Lyon

She still has four on her father's side The Duke of Kent (the only one of George V's grandchildren who was born during his reign still alive), Princess Alexandra, Prince Michael and The Duke of Gloucester (1935, 1935, 1942, 1944). As The Queen Mother was the second youngest of her siblings it isn't surprising that the cousins on that side of The late Queen's family mostly predeceased her.

And the name change has occurred: instead of meeting those involved in the "funeral for Her Majesty The Queen" it is the "funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth." Elizabeth II is no longer the "incumbent."

Weekly Update to 9th October, 2022

The Countess of Wessex was overseas in Africa all week visiting numerous countries while The Princess Royal made a quick trip to the USA. The Prince and Princess of Wales visited Northern Ireland and interestingly for me they visited Carrickfergus and the CC recorded them as The Prince and Princess of Wales Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus. I don’t remember ever seeing that before.
