42 engagements in a week, meaning 6 engagements/day in average? And not during Royal tour (1st week of Nov was COP26, right?).

Yes - that was COP26 and he did most of those engagements in 3 days. A lot of them were 'receiving' Heads of State or Heads of Government rather than visiting places.

Forgot to add my own theory on the BRF and their engagement numbers in my previous post. A simple theory which is that the more patronages, charities and military appointments that you've gained over the decades will definitely place you at the higher end of the tally. After all the Court Circular entries frequently mention that the royal is at an event as they're the Patron/President/Honorary Military rank. It never surprises me that the Queen, PoW, Princess Royal are frequently at the top of the tally as they are the Patrons/Presidents/Honorary Military Ranks of hundreds of organizations.

My take is that it is also a change in policy. The younger generation, Cambridges, prefer quality over quantity, which means that they choose to involve themselves in a smaller number of initiatives/organizations but spend more time on them. Not necessarily in terms of visits (that show up in the CC) but in terms of involvement. Whether that is the right direction for the future as the number of engagements the older generation can take on dwindles down is a different question but I am pretty sure this different way of doing royal work is part of the explanation of the difference in number of engagements undertaken.

Agreed Somebody and IMO this change in policy had been determined around 2010 for the Queen's grandchildren who were set to be full time working royals: Prince William, Prince Harry and their future spouses. I firmly believe that this generation will not take on as many regional patronages/charities like their grandparents and parents but instead will focus on national ones.

Since I do believe that there will be fewer working royals in the future, the older policy was not going to work for the grandchildren's generation. They began their royal duties/patronages as they meant to go forward.

Weekly Update to 26th December, 2021

As there were no engagements in the week from the 20th to the 26th December there is no 'update'.

I am currently working on the 'yearly summary' which I will start uploading probably on Sunday, Sydney time. This will be the usual summary by royal.

There was a great push from Prince William's office to be more visible this year.

Once again I'd like to thank ILuvBertie for continuing the engagement tally throughout the year. I so appreciate the time and dedication taken to create the most detailed tally EVER!!

If we didn't have you IluvBertie, then we'd be stuck with this offering from the Daily Mail which only reviews the engagements (virtual and in-person) for only FIVE of the working BRF members. The royals covered in the DM article were QEII, PoW, the Cambridges and Countess of Wessex. The paper completely ignored: The Earl of Wessex, the Princess Royal and the Duchess of Cornwall along with HM's cousins and Timothy Laurence.

You make a very good point, TLLK.

Thank you to Iluvbertie for your priceless contributions.

It is hard for me to remember that I started this 10 years ago today as a counter for my depression following the death of my father, and moving into a shoebox of a house for a year while I knocked down and rebuilt my home (I had a post WWII fibro home in the western suburbs of Sydney and now have a lovely brick home on the same site).

I will be putting up my yearly summary for each royal over the next hour or so. Some royals may take two or even three entries.
