Weekly Update to 3rd April, 2022

Sorry for the delayed updates but I have been in and out of hospital for the past month or so and we still don’t know what is wrong but I am feeling a lot better now so hopefully whatever was wrong is gone. It will take me a week or more to get up to date but I hopefully will be by the time the ‘season’ really is in full swing with Garden Parties etc.

Weekly Update to 21st August, 2022

There were no official engagements undertaken by any members of the British Royal Family during the past 7 days.

The only entries in the CC were the acknowledgement of the birthday of The Princess Royal and that Divine Service was held at Craithie Church (as usual no list of royal attendees was made so not an official engagement for any of them).

Weekly Update to 28th August, 2022

There were no official engagements undertaken by any members of the British Royal Family during the past 7 days.

Weekly Update to 4th September, 2022

There were 7 engagements this week with 6 being carried out by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester on Saturday. As usual the Braemar Games didn’t feature in the CC. Interestingly Prince Charles’ own ‘dairy of upcoming engagements’ had him opening the new Jubilee Archway and presenting the prizes but that didn’t appear in the CC. I thought opening the Archway might as it was a specifically Jubilee related event.

Apologies in advance for a delay this week.

I have a number of calculations to redo as I set up Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla with a separate set of figures to those they did as Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall

I will probably do the same for William and Catherine as Prince and Princess of Wales to keep them separate from those they did as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Almost every page of my spreadsheet will need new columns and calculations to be done (have only had to do this once before when I did my analysis of 1952).

It will take a few days of work to do this so the update probably won't be done until Thursday or Friday.

Charles has already had two engagements as King - an audience with The PM and a meeting with the Earl Marshal, The Duke of Norfolk. I imagine that that meeting was discussing the Accession Council, which the Earl Marshal is responsible for organising as well as responsible for the Proclamations that will follow. They will no doubt also meet many times until the Coronation as again the Duke of Norfolk will be organising that.

I was very pleased to come back to these forums after being quiet for several years and see you are still doing this work. It’s a huge contribution and very thoughtful. Much appreciated.

Weekly Update to 11th September, 2022

What a week it has been. I don’t think any of us, on seeing HM The Queen on Tuesday with the new PM would expect that within two days we would also have a new monarch.

As for my analysis:

1. For those who have changed titles – HM The King, HM The Queen Consort, HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Princess of Wales – all have new sets of figures starting this week.
2. Both the former Prince of Wales and former Duchess of Cornwall carried out engagements during the past week using those titles (actually using the Duke of Rothesay title as his engagements were in Scotland). Those figures are in their former titles.
3. This is the last time that the titles Duchess of Cornwall, Duke of Cambridge and Duchess of Cambridge will appear in the analysis except when listing ‘used secondary titles’
4. I do have a ‘combined’ column in my spreadsheet which I will be using from next week when they will only be appearing using the new titles. For the 'League Table' I will be using the combined figures.
5. The CC listed the siblings and spouses by name in going to church at Craithie but didn’t name the grandchildren so I have put them in my page of ‘unofficial engagements’.
6. There was no mention in the CC of the attendance at the official proclamation at St James’ Palace of The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent or Prince Michael of Kent and some of their families. Again they are recorded in my ‘unofficial engagements’ list.

I hope this makes sense.
