THE PRINCES IN 50 ANNIVERSARY OF THE NATIONAL PARK AIGüESTORTES

Madrid (EFE) .-The Princes of Asturias will preside today at the commemoration of 50 anniversary of the creation of Aigüestortes's national park, one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Pyrenees, in Lleida's province.
Don Felipe and Dona Letizia will visit the park, before presiding in Espot's Town hall at the acts of commemoration of this enclosure, placed in the regions that lived through the birth of the Romanesque art in the Middle Ages with the counties of Ribargorza and of Pallars. They were accompanied in this visit by the president of the Generalitat, Pasqual Maragall; the minister of Environment, Cristina Narbona, and the mayor of Espot, Agustín Perot, between other authorities.

Princes de Asturias arrive at the National Park of Aigüestortes

Princes de Asturias arrived last the 11,30 hours from today, on board of a helicopter, to the National Park of Aigüestortes, that celebrates the 50 anniversary of its creation.
On board of a todoterreno vehicle and accompanied by the president of the Generalitat, Pasqual Maragall, and the mayor of Espot, Agustín Perot, the Princes will raise until the lake San Mauricio to salute to the members of the Patronage of the Park and to receive explanations of this singular natural space.
There they will greet also to students and professors of the Institute of Secondary of Gissona, to those who today he corresponded activities to them outdoors in the National Park.

Its main sign of identity corresponds to but of 200 lakes......
... It is a true paradise for the lovers of the Nature...
It represents the ecosystems of the high pirenaica mountain and constitutes a magnificent sample of the action of glaciers of the Quaternary. In its lakes and mountains they inhabit urogallo, the black whistle, the quebrantahuesos, sarrio, etc. Forests of firs, black pine and you have cover the Park. In the alpine meadows we found gencianas, ranúnculos, irises, orquídeas and prímulas, among others.

The Princes of Asturias preside at 50 anniversary of Aigüestortes's National Park (Lleida)

The Princes of Asturias, Don Felipe and Dona Letizia, the commemorative acts of 50 presided this morning at anniversary of the creation of the National Park of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici (Lleida). At the act they were present the president of the Generalitat, Pasqual Maragall and the general manager for the Biodiversity of the Department of Environment, Jose Luis Herranz, in substitution of the Minister of Environment, Cristina Narbona.

Created on October 21, 1955, the territory protected from Aigüestortes, which initially had an extension of 15.000 hectares, turned into that moment into the fifth Nature reserve of Spain and into the second one of the Pyrenees, after Ordesa's National Park. Placed between the regions of Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Pallars Jussà and Val d " Plough, the Park assembles the major concentration that exists of lakes pirenaicos.

The Princes, who in the first hour of the morning realized a visit not programmed to the Seu d ´ Urgell, where they visited the cathedral and met the Bishop, were got on 12 a.m. by the mayor of the nearby locality of Espot, Agustí Perot, which was waiting close to the lake For Sant Maurici. From there they contemplated the sights to Els Encantats's mountain and chatted during a few moments with a group of students of 3 º about IT about Guissona (Lleida), who gave them the prismatic some in order that they were contemplating closely a rebeco that was passing there.

Later they approached the zone in which there were waiting the journalists, to whom the Prince confessed that it was the first time that was visiting the Park, whereas Dona Letizia admitted that already she had been, " but when she was not known ".
Asked about the chat that they had supported with the students, Doña Letizia commented that " especially the girls " had proved to be very interested in knowing how the Infanta Leonor was, showing what they finished them photographies of the small one in her mobile one.
The Princes returned little later to the locality of Spot, where they visited the Town hall and where, in an adjacent tent, there took place the institutional act of commemoration of 50 years of the Park.

Prince: The nature is a question of preferred interest

Prince de Asturias and Girona today assured that ' the conservation of the nature is a question of preferred interest and a responsibility colectivá, when closing the acts of the 50 commemoration of anniversary of the creation of the National Park of Aigüestortes, in Lleida.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia shared more than two hours with the people in charge of one of the most outstanding National Parks of Spain, in the Catalan Pyrenees, accompanied by the president of the Generalitat, Pasqual Maragall, the delegate of the Government, Joan Frangel, and the mayor of Espot, Agustín Perot.

Espot is the locality next to Aigüestortes, with less than 200 inhabitants registered, who, in their majority, could today narrow the hand of the Princes, to those who received warmly.

Before the institutional ceremony of closing of the the 50 acts of anniversary - that began six months ago celebrated in Espot, the Princes raised until the lake of San Mauricio to see one of the more beautiful natural spectacles of Spain. There, they saluted to the members of the Patronage of the Park, knew his peculiarities mouth of his director, Mercedes Aniz, and engaged in a dialog with a group of students of secondary, of the institute of Gissona, those who Princess de Asturias showed the photography to them of Infant Leonor who takes in her mobile. Also Doña Letizia confirmed there once again that its first-born, that already is five months old, "she is pretty".

When finishing the route by the Park, the Princes moved to Espot, in where they visited the City council and they signed in the honor roll, before presiding over the commemoration.
In his speech, Don Felipe emphasized that to see Aigüestortes is to verify like conservation of nature ' has won apuestá, and that can be said that it is, even, ' the archetype, the one that better adjust to the concept and definición' of natural park. One also talked about its beauty, to the water that is one of the protagonists of the Park (it has more than 200 lakes of origin glacier, rivers and torrents) and emphasized that it is ' the economic motor of all the region and the referring one that moves all his actividad'. The Prince finished his words in Catalan saying that ' to all the Spaniards he fills of proud to have to us jewels of the Nature like this, that Wreath always has supported and encouraged.
