Prince Henrik participated in the royal hunt at the Gludsted Plantage this morning, November 9, 2012 - and wore one of his award-worthy outfits again

I can't help but feel a warm glow for this amusing man. He doesn't mind showing he will wear whatever he likes. I like him for it, a colourful jolly fellow with a big heart.

The court has confirmed that Prince Henrik's dachshund, Vega, is dead near the town of Nødebo. Kongelig hund trafikdræbt | Kriminalmagasinet Politirapporten.nu
Vega ran away Saturday evening, was run over by a car and killed.
It was a woman out for a stroll who found the dog. Attached to the collar was a phone number and she could inform about the find.
Shortly after someone came from the court, wrapped the dog in a blanket with QMII's monogram and drove away to Fredensborg.
Prince Henrik was very much attached to his dogs.
Another dachshund, Evita, died this summer.

so sorry to hear about the Prince Consort's dog. A former dachshund owner myself, I know how charming but ultimately reckless and free spirited these dogs are, so Vega's death was probably not unexpected at Fredensborg. small consolation, but at least the end was quick.

Not only that, but at least HRH and HM knows Vega's fate and can say good bye. I never got that chance w/my first cat Tom. He went out one night and never came home again.
So whenever I hear something like this, I'm always grateful the owner of the pet in question has been able to find them and in turn know what happened. Even though it's the worst of all the outcomes. :(

Yes, that must be some sort a consolation.
I believe another of the Regent Couple's dogs also ran away some years back. And as far as I know it was never found.

Pretty much every paper worth mentioning in DK covers the death of Vega.
Also TV2: Kongehuset i sorg: Kun én hund tilbage - TV 2 Nyhederne
With a picture of the remaining dachshund, Helike, who is QMII's dog.
Wonder if PH will have a new dog?
He is after all getting older and even with the help of footmen, there is still a good deal of work in bringing up a puppy. Not least if it's an active dog like a dachshund. - Perhaps a lapdog might be a good choice? Or alternatively a budgie? Don't laugh, budgies are nice companions, albeit a bit loud.

Losing a dog is very upsetting as they are part of the family. My heart goes out to Prince Henrik. I had a budgie once, the vet said he had pyschologicol problems. So I gave him to someone who had other budgies for him to play with, in a big avairy.

Not only is the prince consort colourful, but true to his French blood. I believe he has based his outfit on the 'Grand Mamamouchi', made famous in Moliere's Bourgeois Gentilhomme

Prince Henrik would fit in perfectly with the style of that period.

The Tele Tubby outfit again?!?
I'm getting more and more convinced that the hat is some sort of signal device. Perhaps she doubles as a mobile SIGINT (signals intelligence) post?

Indeed, except that he would never consider himself a 'bourgeois'! . but would probably show true genius in the 'flirt' department
