Well, it's Thursday again and another issue of Billed Bladet has hit the streets.
Despite a massive coverage of the BRF wedding (*) the DRF is nevertheless well featured.
In this week we have a note about Frederik in Greenland.
Our Marie presenting a prize for autism association.
Prince Henrik in the Opera and commenting on the coverage of the wedding.
A very interesting article about Christian and his new school.
A Q&A about a bunker designated for members of the DRF.
The Regent Couple moving in at Fredensborg for the summer.
President Putin meeting QMII.
Some info on the golden ballarinas Bella wore at the christening. - All their outfits are incidentally put on display at Amalienborg Museum.
Joachim will be well featured in a TV-docu about racing (cars) to be aired in the autumn.
(*) Pippa Middleton is pretty hot! - What? I'm a male, I'm genetically allowed to drool.
And then we have this:
Translation of article in Billed Bladet #18, 2011.
Marie spiser græshopper - Marie eats grasshoppers.
Written by Annelise Weimann.
"What's that? Grasshoppers? Can you eat those"? A puzzled Princess Marie asked when she attended the opening of the Day of Research at townhall square in Copenhagen. So far everything had been quiet and peaceful with handing over awards inside the townhall and funny speaches by young ph.d students. Only when Marie together with the mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, and Minister of Science, Charlotte Sahl-Madsen went outside to the square did the Princess find out what was expected of her.
Marie stood for a long time and looked at the small fried animals and (she) wasn't that keen on tasting. But when both the major and the science minister ate the crunchy insects Marie wanted to try as well and afterwards she claimed: "Yum, they taste good". (*) Marie did however quickly ask for a glass of juice to wash down with and future guests at Schackenborg probably don't have to fear being served grasshoppers at the dinnertable, judging from the expression on Marie's face.
The Princess experienced many new things and she was crazy about the music played by the band William Blake. (**) Marie applauded enthusiatically, smiled and rocked her foot, ready to dance, but no one asked her to dance and instead she returned back to Amalienborg soon after. Here lunch was waiting and it constisted with guarantee not of crunchy roasted grasshoppers.
(*) You're a lousy hypocrite, Marie. - And that's not the worst thing to say about someone.
(**) Don't know them. ADDED: I do now. Listened shortly to a couple of tracks on youtube. - No. Rebecca Black's Friday is much much better.
A wonderful story.
Here are translations of some of the captions, you can add them to the gallery Iceflower has kindly posted.
- Marie looked somewhat hesitantly at the pan with the fried grasshoppers.
- Marie did however end up wanting to taste and (she) picked the smallest possible grasshopper, she could find.
- Two-three times did Marie chew, before she quickly and with closed eyes swallowed the long insect.
- - "Can I have for a glass of juice, please"? Asked Marie and hurried to get the taste of grasshopper out of her mouth.

don't see any other skirts around. are they even using skirts with their dress uniform in the civil defence anymore?
i'm more interested in the fact that none of the representatives of the civil defence are wearing headgear.
now, some of you have an encyclopedic knowledge about dresses, i know a little bit about uniforms, admittedly not much about the civil defence.
my guess is that they don't because they belong to a civillian organisation, under the ministry of the interior in fact.
- in contrast to the military, like our marie's adjutant, who would never dream of being outside without a headgear or "etaterne" = the uniformed civillian services of the state, i.e.police, post, state railroads, costums and so on, who ought never show themselves outside without a headgear.
anyone in the know about civil defence headgear?
added: did some research. members of the civil defence do not wear headgear when outside. period! - except in connection with service, where protective headgear is required, like helmets, protection against weather or against dirt and so on.
Oh, if you think this is nerded, wait until tomorrow for the official flagdag....
added: on the flagday tomorrow members of the total defence, which includes the military as well as civil defence, are honored. we may therefore see both marie and her joachim in uniforms.

Is Marie part of the emergency meaning patron or anything like that, taken some courses or did she just turn up in uniform because she was visiting them?

Our Marie is a fully qualified member of beredskabsstyrelsen, which to keep it simple i refer to as the civil defence.
she earned her right to wear the uniform the hard way and she is officially registered as an active serving member of the "column" based in herning, central jutland.
you can read about here in english: DEMA - Welcome to the Danish Emergency Management Agency (DEMA)
She graduated 23. june Beredskabsstyrelsen - Prinsesse Marie tilknyttet redningsberedskabet
in reality we will most likely see marie as a sort of patron or living recruitment poster for beredskabsstyrelsen/civil defence.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #38, 2011.
Maries søde mave - Marie's sweet belly.
Written by Henrik Salling.
http://www.billedbladet.dk/Kongelige...mmelighed.aspx
Our Marie attended the opening of EAIE, a conference about international education.
She was recieved by the president of the EAIE, the Icelandic Gudrun Paulsdottir.
The now visibly pregnant Princess gave a speech, in English, for the international audience. In that she referred to her own experiences from studying abroad.
She said: "I was both nervous and full of expectations. Because how would I adapt to life in the new school". Referring to her start at the Swiss bording school Beus Soleil. Then it was on to Boston and New York.
- "I'm glad I've studied abroad. I was afraid (apprehensive?) about coping without my friends and family, but today I don't regret. To meet so many different people has enriched my life".
The expectant Marie answered a couple of personal questions as well.
About bette Henrik: "I only speak French to him and my husband only speak Danish to him".
Has she felt any movements in the belly? "That's my little secret". Apparantly the reporter has observed the odd jolt from Marie, indicating some movement....
