M&F are well covered in this weeks issue of BB, unfortunately there isn't much meat on the articles, so I'll deal with Frederik.

Wearing number 272, Frederik started his half ironman before the Devil puts on his shoes (idiom meaning very early) at 06.30 by jumping into the 15.7 degree warm or rather chilly water to swim 1.9 kilometer.
Having completed that he jumped on his bike and started pedalling for 90 kilometers and when the morning became forenoon, the locals started to gather (*) just in time for Frederik to start his 21.1 kilometer run. By now he was cheered on by the crowd. Somethng he appreciated very much.
Having finished Frederik grabbed a microphone and said: "It's been a great experience and a great pleasure for me to run here today. It's a nice race which you can complete as you wish - nail it to the floor or with the heart (take it easy presumably) that's up to you. But no matter what, all who complete have won something - so well done everybody".
Frederik's close friend Peter Heering also took part.
(I predict we will se Mary complete something similar this summer. Perhaps not a half ironman, but a long swim or a run).
(*) Having finished their Sunday morning pastry no doubt. On Sunday mornings here in DK you can observe an astonishing number of husbands and family fathers, often with a dog and with morning hair (those who have hair, that is...) embarking on a pilgrimage to the nearest baker to obtaing fresh bread and pastries for the Mrs. still at home in bed.
The phenomenon leads to the following mouthwatering result:

Frederik attended the annual school olympics which took place at Østerbro Stadium. The children chanted: "Frederik, Frederik", when Frederik arrived, accompanied by the mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen. (He was ignored...).
The children were almost queuing up to have their photos taken with Frederik and Frederik took his time having his picture taken, chatting with the children or encouraging them.
He started by giving a short speech before a collective warming up with the children and later on firing the gun for the first event, 60 meter sprint.
When he left a couple of hours later, he told how delighted he was at seeing the children so earger to participate in the various discliplines. And of course pleased that he was treated like a major sports start himself.
