I knew that Chris wasn't scheduled to be there, but Carl Philip also seem to be absent. Has anyone heard anything about his whereabouts?
 
Estelle and Leonor are very cute. The coat of Princess Madeleine looks way to short IMO.
 
Its a pity that Chris O'Neil couldn't be there,were any of the kings sisters present?
 
Seems the women all got the nude/white shoe memo except Silvia.

Estelle and Leonore are so cute and I love their coats. :D In the video the little moment where Estelle offers her hand to Leonore was so cute.

The king's sisters don't take part at the official celebration, of course for instance Christina could be at the Palace, who knews. I haven't seen her at the photos from the courtyard.

And it looks like Sofia has now been raised to full family member status even though she's not even married yet !
 
I see there no rivalry between Madeleine and Sofia as media had many times reported. I found it very sweet to see Sofia with Leonore on her arms.

I think it is only fair that she be considered as such; it is only a few weeks to the wedding now.

Have any plans for HM's 70th birthday been released? Will there be a big celebration with international royal attendees, as is usually the case in Denmark?

I do not know if there is any rivalry or not, the Swedish gossip press seems to excell in making things up so let's assume they lie yet again. However a few moments in public won't reveal much about it. They are all adults and I am sure they can behave IF there would be any friction. Fabiola and Paola did it for 5 decades :whistling:.

Leonore just wanted to get down. It's always good to see the kids just wanting to play and the royals don't mind allowing everyone to see that. Although, I would've handed her over to her nanny and let the church roll on.
 
The girls are very cute, Leonore was maybe a bit young to be at such an event. It was very sweet to see her stretch her arms out to Sofia, she was more at peace in her arms than Madeleine's!

I applaud the royal ladies for sharing their clothes. A great way to get more use out of single pieces yet always look good. Sofia is wearing CP Victoria's coat from H&M from several years ago. She did not belt it and left the collar un-buttoned.

Young children at this age tend to get very sensitive and jealous because they can sense that they are having another sibling, so they may act rebellious or uncomfortable with their mothers. Leonore is going through such phase so it seems that she is at peace with anyone except her own mum. I think she will cling more towards her dad, Chris, and maybe her nanny now, but when the baby is born, she will feel much better as she learns to share the love and attention.

Both Leonore and Estelle are very adorable.

Sofia is wearing a coat from Tiger of Sweden, which she had also just before Christmas when she and Carl Philip attended at a Christmas concert.

I haven't seen a photo of Bertil escorting the king on his birthday. The first photo of Carl Philip escorting the king which I have seen is from 2000.

Sofia looks chic today. Princess Leonor becomes so calm when held by Sofia. So sweet.
 
Estelle and Leonore are straight out of a fairy story about tiny princesses. And I love how affectionate and engaged Estelle always is toward her little cousin...no sign of jealousy or rivalry ever.:whistling:

Madeleine looks very uncomfortable in those heels with her advanced pregnancy.:sad:


Leonore is too young for a ceremony that long and formal. But it was interesting and impressive how Sofia was able to calm her.

On the other hand she seems to be enjoying herself being HRH Princess Madeleine of Sweden again after her "exile" as Mrs. O'Neill in New York (no offense to NYorkers intended !).
 
:previous: Yes Mbruno I noticed that too and I am relieved. Madeleine made no secret of her love affair with NYC and I thought maybe we would be treated to a series of photos of the princess appearing a little let down after her return to Sweden..

I am pleasantly surprised it hasn't happened!;)
 
Out of curiosity: why is it that prince CP is escorting the King, and not his wife or his heir? Is it because Prince CP was in the military? And if so: did prince Bertil accompany the king in the past?

Aren't there more windows in the palace from which the family can look btw?

I would say it is probably because CP has a military rank.

Of course, deep inside, it is also no secret how CG feels about his son's being deprived of what the King interprets as CP's "birthright" to be the heir.

I agree, that was a precious moment between Estelle and Leonore. I also loved it when Estelle helped Leonore to get up once she'd fallen over. It appears that Estelle is a very loving older cousin.
It seems that little Leonore is learning how to walk, as she looked as if she wanted to get down a number of times in the video - she seemed quite fidgety. :D

I agree, I didn't spot any "rivalry" between Sofia and Madeleine, and Leonore seemed to be rather comfortable in Sofia's arms (though I noticed in one of the videos, Leonore seemed to be interested in something near Sofia, so that could've been it).

I didn't realise that Carl Gustaf was 69, he's always come across as older to me. This is probably just me, but it seemed that he didn't come across as very cheerful during his birthday celebrations.

I think he looks exactly his age. On the second point, CG never comes across as cheerful to me. He doesn't often smile in public and, when he does, it rarely looks natural or spontaneous.
