The Duchess of Cornwall hosted a group of school children at Clarence House on Tuesday for a garden party as an early 70th birthday celebration. She welcomed them as they stepped of a well-known London icon, a red bus, with author and Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams in the driver’s seat.

The party doubled as the presentation of the ‘Duchess’s Bookshelves’ project, a competition run in schools across the UK to select the 70 most popular books, which will now be presented to 70 schools. Among them are the first of the Harry Potter series, Charlotte’s Web and Matilda.

Camilla was also given a copy of the collection, which she said she was going to need to “plonk somewhere” central so her five grandchildren will be able to borrow them without fighting over them.
