Today is the fiftieth birthday of Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece, the eldest son of the former King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of the Hellenes.

He was born in Athens in May 1967 as the heir presumptive to his father. Later that year, Pavlos and his family were forced to flee Greece following a failed counter-coup launched by King Constantine to overthrow the Junta regime. The family first settled in Rome, before moving to Denmark and then England.

Prince Pavlos was educated at the Hellenic College of London and undertook military training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He then studied International Relations, Law and Organisation at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

In July 1995, Pavlos married Marie-Chantal Miller, with whom he has five children: Maria Olympia, Constantine Alexis, Achileas Andreas, Odysseus Kimon and Aristides Stavros.

The family is currently in the process of moving from London to New York.
