The current and former Queens of Spain – Letizia and Sofia – today were helped mark the 30th anniversary of the Foundation for Help Against Drug Addiction (FAD) in a special ceremony in Madrid, which also honoured Queen Sofia’s work for the charity over the years.

Queen Letizia, who wore a simple pale pink skirt and matching blouse with black chiffon detailing, praised FAD for “supporting all without hurting, or blaming, or stigmatising” and “putting all their energy into preventing and educating” people about drugs.

She also said that the foundation was one of the elements of her work that made her “feel worthy and happy to serve” because of what it does for and means to the human condition.

The brocade-clad Sofia echoed her daughter-in-law’s sentiments, saying it had been an “honour” to work with FAD for so many years.
