Duchess of Cambridge Opens ‘Tech Deck’ at Land Rover BAR Headquarters

A Royal Patron of the 1851 Trust, the Duchess of Cambridge has paid a visit to the Land Rover BAR America’s Cup headquarters in Portsmouth, where she opened the new visitor’s centre and ‘Tech Deck’.

Kate was accompanied by Sir Ben Ainslie for the openings, which are designed to help the 1851 Trust’s aim of ” inspiring a new generation through sailing and the marine industry.” The ‘Tech Deck’ Education Centre highlights the innovation and technology used by Ainslie’s team who hope to win the America’s Cup for Britain in 2017 for the first time since 1851.

The Duchess also launched a new project run by the Trust together with UKSA and the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation to encourage children from all backgrounds into the sport and met with students from St Edmund’s Catholic School for a digital workshop.

For the event, Kate wore a navy and cream Alexander McQueen skirt and blouse with numerous gold buttons first worn in 2011.
