A new exhibition featuring the clothing of Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales opens on February 11 at Kensington Palace.

‘Fashion Rules Restyled’ showcases a number of Princess Diana’s Catherine Walker gowns, including a velvet and tartan evening gown, a one-shouldered beaded floral gown and a halter-neck emerald green velvet gown.

From the Queen’s wardrobe comes a Hardy Amies ivory beaded bodice dress, while several Norman Hartnell full-skirted evening gowns come from Princess Margaret. Also from the Queen’s late sister are a few pairs of her stylish sunglasses.

The exhibition showcases how  the three royal ladies “navigated the fashion ‘rules’ defined by their royal duties in their own unique style”.
