Denmark’s Prince Henrik, son of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, had his first day of primary school yesterday, and the young Prince posed for the media wearing a large red backpack.

“I have a pencil case and a lunch bag in my schoolbag. I like arithmetic the best,” the six-year-old responded when he was asked about his backpack and what he was looking forward to. Henrik will be attending the St Joseph Sister’s School, unlike his elder brothers, Nikolai and Felix, who were enrolled in the Krebs School.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie watched their son proudly as he and his younger sister Athena stood on the steps of their home in Klampenborg. “[The] school lives up to the ideals and wishes we have…and it was a very natural choice as it on top of that is located so close to home,” Prince Joachim said of their choice of school.
