During her grandmother and parents’ visit to the Vatican, Princess Leonore also met Pope Francis. The baby Princess sat on her grandmother, Queen Silvia’s, lap whilst she had an audience with the Pope at the Apolisitc Palace.

Later on in the afternoon, a seminar focusing on human trafficking took place at the Swedish Embassy in Rome and was organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. The seminar is based on the Pope’s New Year’s Speech.

On Sunday, Queen Silvia was awarded the European Humanitate Prize at the German Embassy in the Holy See. Silvia was awarded the prize due to her work with children and young people. During the prize giving ceremony, she made a speech:

“I am both touched and grateful to receive European Humanitate Prize. Social assistance is always up to date. Especially now considering the flow of refugees across the Mediterranean and the earthquake in Nepal”.
