According to Svensk Damtidning, Victoria's dress is designed by Camilla Thulin.
- It is a draped dress in full silk duchesse, says Camilla Thulin.
- It has been a very fun collaboration with the crown princess's stylist and the crown princess herself. And my tailor Reza Ismaili has sewn the dress and done all the tests.
- We have been working on the dress for about six weeks, from sketch to finished result. It is the crown princess and her stylist who have agreed on the color. And she also has an incredibly nice necklace with pearls in the same color.

Yes, I read your post and it is clear that the awards are presented in the city hall but under the new paragraph, the Nobel prize banquet you refer to the Grand stairway and the Blue Hall. As most city halls do not have such features and the Grand Hotel was mentioned as the previous venue, I wanted to be sure. Very interesting to include the large number of attendees, thank you for the information.

I love Princess Victoria's camel coat.

Re Nobel Prizes trivia information, here is how a nominee's name is submitted, for example the Nobel Peace Prize, which I didn't know is done by the Norwegian Nobel Committee

Nomination and selection of Nobel Peace Prize laureates

A nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize may be submitted by any person who meets the nomination criteria. A letter of invitation to submit is not required. The names of the nominees and other information about the nominations cannot be revealed until 50 years later.

Court singer Elin Rombo sings at the banquet with Rufus Wainwright.

Cia Jansson, editor-in-chief of Swedish Elle, praised queen Silvia's dress, especially the duchesse skirt that can be taken away from the gown and use only the lace dress. Queen Silvia always thinks how to use her gowns many times. About Victoria's gown she said that Victoria has movie star look, but at the same time very much a princess look. And that both the queen's and Victoria's gowns have highest class tailor work.

Svensk Damtidning's reporter called Tord Magnuson about the Prize Award ceremony and banquet.

Tord says that the Nobel parties are always fantastic and just as impressive every time. There are many people who put in their best talents to make a nice evening and it's always fun to be a part of. It was very classy, stylish and it's fun to finally get started again after the years of the pandemic. It was obvious that there were an infinite number of intelligent people on site, says Tord and explains that he likes to mingle, talk to new people and start a conversation: There is usually a lot about the food, performances and that kind of simpler questions. It also depends on who you sit with.
The food was greatly appreciated by Tord, he says it was very nice. Delicious, light and elegant.
Tonight is the time for the King's dinner for the Nobel laureates at the Royal Palace. Then Tord and Princess Christina will again be there to take part in the royal festivities.
Tord says he's looking forward to the evening, but also thinks it's a bit hard to keep going for so many days straight.
- Of course you get tired of keeping going like that, you probably would too.

The King gave dinner for Nobel laureates. As the traditional dinner has been canceled for the past two years due to the pandemic, this year the 2020, 2021 and 2022 prize winners were invited.
The evening began with the Royal Family giving a small reception in Lovisa Ulrika's dining room st the Royal Palace to the Nobel laureates and their respective.
After that, the Royal Family and the Nobel laureates walked into the White Sea Hall, where they greeted the other invited guests who represented the Riksdag, the government, the diplomatic corps, academies, research and science, the Nobel Foundation, and others.
Around 20.00 the dinner was served in Karl XI's gallery.

Svensk Damtidning writes that Estelle and Oscar have had Nobel parties ever since they went to preschool - the Lilla Kvikkjokk parent cooperative had its own Nobel celebration every year, with a French chef in the kitchen and all the little ones partying around the tables.
And Estelle and Oscar's school Campus Manilla has also the tradition to celebrate Nobel.
This year's mini-Nobel started there last Friday and Victoria was one of the organizers:
- She went around serving the children juice like any other mother, an eyewitness tells Svensk Damtidning.
And if we know Estelle correctly, she probably had a nice tiara in her hair, just like mother Victoria at the real Nobel the following day.
Estelle is also well on her way to all the Nobel festivities that await, soon she will be eleven years old and thus only has seven years left until she can wear a tiara: 18 years old. And thus also opens the door to the big Nobel party.

Today, the TV program Snillen spekulerar or Nobel Minds as the program is called abroad, is broadcast on SVT2 and on BBC World. The TV recording took place during Nobel Week in the Bernadotte Library at the Royal Palace in the presence of the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel.
In the program, the Nobel laureates meet for a conversation about learning, research in a global host and what it means to be human. The BBC's Zeinab Badawi is the presenter. The program has been recorded since the 1960s.

From Thursday 31 August
Ambassadors from Russia, Belarus have been invited again to Stockholm's Nobel Prize awards ceremony this year after being left out last year because of the Ukraine invasion, the Nobel Foundation said on Thursday.

The Royal House also reacts with great surprise to the announcement that the Nobel Foundation has decided to invite Russia's ambassador to the Nobel Prize ceremony this year. This is stated by the Court's director of the information department Margareta Thorgren.
Now we are waiting to see what happens in the next few days, before the King decides whether he will participate in the award ceremony or not.

The Nobel Foundation said on Saturday it would not after all invite the ambassadors of Russia, Belarus and Iran to attend the Nobel Prize awards ceremony in Stockholm this year, reversing an earlier decision after widespread criticism.

Margareta Thorgren about the Nobel Foundation's new decision:
- We have previously said that we expressed surprise at the Nobel Foundation's invitation, we see the change in the decision as positive, says Margareta Thorgren to Aftonbladet.
Will the King attend the Prize ceremonies?
- That issue has not been raised. As the deliver of the Nobel Prizes previously, it is planned that the King will hand out prizes as before, she says.

Has the Nobel Foundation always refused/been forbidden from inviting ambassadors from countries at war (more or less) with Sweden or is this a new rule from Swedish politicians?

Sweden has not been at war with any country during the existence of Nobels.

Shunning Russia and its allies is standard practice these days in any civilized country and should not require any additional rulings from politicians. The Nobel Foundation embarrased itself but thankfully realized the error of its ways.

Given that they didn't invite the Russian, Belarussian and Iranian ambassadors last year, the first question is why they reversed their stance given that the situation hasn't changed.

I wonder what made them reverse this new decision, probably a combination of both pressure from the media, the politicians and the court. They would have a real problem if the royal family suddenly refused to attend the Nobel Prize Ceremonies.

Can a Russian scientist still get a Nobel Prize... - What if he is pro Putin?
How does a political preference devaluate a persons academic abilities and successes? That is wrong.

The Nobel Foundation is an independent organisation and there is no legal way for the political establishment to interfere with who they invite to events organised by the foundation.

There are no rules against it, but as shown by the outrage from just about everyone in Sweden in the last few days it'd be a public relations disaster for the foundation and the values it stands for. Several mistakes have been made in the last few years both by the foundation itself and other entities connected to the foundation and the Nobel prize and if they continue to happen it'll seriously devalue the status of the Nobel prize.

So theoretically, a scientist who has done groundbreaking research which will save thousands of lives cannot receive a nobelprize if he/she pollitically supports someone the Western world doesn't approve of?

The foundation is free to choose whoever they want to award, but currently it'd be a public relations disaster for the Nobel Foundation, the Nobel prize and other recipients of the different awards. Whether this is right or wrong is up for each person to decide for themselves. This is not something new since the whole award process and the awards given have never been just about groundbreaking research and great humanitarian achievements. There has always been a large ideological and political aspect to the Nobel prize.

Ever since the King's "surprise" over the news that the ambassadors of Russia, Belarus, Iran were invited to the Nobel prize ceremony was made public yesterday Swedish social media has been overwhelmingly in agreement with this "surprise" and praising him as a person for taking the correct stand on the issue.

My favourite comment was made on X and pointed out what a masterful example of communication the court's statement was and that rarely has so much been achieved by basically saying nothing. Not bad for a man whose communication skills have been criticized since the 1960s. (And yes, of course I know that there's an entire press department behind the statement, but still...)

Several journalists and academics have pointed out that this is a prime example of how while the King has no formal power his informal power is not only large, but seems to be growing. The republican association who have said informal power as one of the hills they've chosen to die on have been noticeably absent from the discourse of the last few days, but they usually are so when they know that people's opinions are against them.

Not theoretically. As that link said, it's already happened that both the Nazi and Soviet regimes have forced citizens to decline the prize, for politics.

It's also very hard to do "groundbreaking, lifesaving" research in a climate of repression and authoritarianism, btw. Research is long, tedious, requires constant funding -- and creativity and the ability to take risks, ask many questions, and make mistakes, none of which is easy to come by in a sanctioned dictatorship.

As JR said, not only would it be another public relations disaster for the foundation, to my knowledge there's currently a large backlog of people waiting to receive the scientific prizes. Another reason no one from a contentious country should be awarded a Nobel any time soon.

Argh. Nobody's talking about chemists or doctors. It's about sniveling "diplomats" who also post genocidal filth on social media as part of their job! I mean, the committee also (rightfully) awarded last year's peace prize to Russians and Belarusians. Ales Bialiatski -the Belarusian recipient- is rotting in jail right now, but the Belarusian ambassador should be allowed to attend?!!
