The King attends today at 13.00 the state funeral of former President of the Republic of Finland Martti Ahtisaari at Helsinki Cathedral.
Over 800 people are invited to the funeral.

The funeral service for former president Ahtisaari at Helsinki Cathedral will begin at 13.00 and end at 14.30.
The service will be conducted by Bishop Emeritus Eero Huovinen with assistance from Bishop Teemu Laajasalo and Dora Puhakka. President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö will deliver the eulogy.
The funeral service will feature songs and performers with a special meaning for the Ahtisaari family while also honouring tradition.

After the service, the funeral cortege will leave Helsinki Cathedral at about 14.45. The cortege will be led by the mounted police and will proceed as a motorcade from Helsinki Cathedral to Hietaniemi Cemetery, stopping outside the Presidential Palace for one minute.

King Carl Gustaf gave today an audience to H.E. Ms Urška Klakočar Zupančič, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia.

The King visits Gothenburg next Monday.
The visit begins at the police station in Hjällbo, where the king is informed about the situation and developments in the area, as well as about what the police's crime prevention work looks like. He will also learn more about the "Rätt kurva" project, which deals with how children at risk of ending up in crime can be caught.
The king has lunch at Sjumila School, where he will also meet staff and students, talk to students and hear more about how the school works to prevent crime.
The court's information officer Ulrika Näsholm is asked if the social development worries the king? She says she think that worries everyone, and the king feels that he wants to stay informed and updated about what is happening.

One week ago, but I have to say that the King looked very moved at the funeral.

The King visits today Gothenburg with a focus on crime prevention work. Governor Sten Tolgfors accompanies the King.
First he visited the Police station in Hjällbo.

The king really showed that he understands the serious situation and wants to work to stop it.
- Right now it's bad in Sweden, it just has to be stated. That is why I am here. Both to learn and to hear how we can work together. You have to learn from each other. If you make a mistake in one place, you might learn from it and do the right thing elsewhere, he says.

We here in The States don't get that much information on Europe, I do read *some* UK Media on line, but I'm not familiar with this in Sweden.

King Carl Gustaf attended today a meeting of King Gustaf VI Adolf's Fund for Swedish culture. The Fund provides funding for Swedish humanistic research and cultural heritage preservation.

King Carl Gustaf inaugurated today Wisdome Stockholm and began the National Museum of Science and Technology's (Tekniska museet) 100th anniversary celebration. The new building, which houses Wisdome Stockholm, is the biggest investment the Museum has made since the move to Royal Djurgården in 1936.

Petra Lundh, a lawyer and president of the Svea Court of Appeal, assumed the role of national police chief on 1 December. She reported on current issues within the Police Authority.

King Carl Gustaf delivered yesterday the Gastronomic Academy's awards (gold medal, silver medal, gold pins and three diplomas) at the Bernadotte Library at the Royal Palace. The King is the patron of the Academy. Stefan Ekengren from Restaurant Hantverket got the gold medal "for extraordinary contributions to Swedish food culture".

This afternoon the King gave an audience to Anders Thornberg, the new Governor of Halland County since 1st December.
Thornberg was the head of the Security Service in 2012–2018 and in 2018-2023 he was the national police chief.

King Carl Gustaf visited the "Förbifart Stockholm" tunnel project in Stockholm.

Most of the visit then took place in the southern part of the 18 kilometer long tunnels. "Förbifart Stockholm" (The Stockholm Bypass) is one of the world's most complex tunnel constructions and is planned to be completed in 2030.

King Carl Gustaf had today a conversation on the phone with Iceland's President Guðni Jóhannesson.
The King expressed compassion and support for all Icelanders affected by the volcanic eruption and the large lava flows in the municipality of Grindavik in Iceland.

The King met today at the Royal Palace astronaut Marcus Wandt and the Swedish National Space Agency's Director General Anna Rathsman.
At the beginning of January, Marcus Wandt became the third Swede in space when he traveled to the International Space Station to conduct research into weightlessness.

The King said at his speech among other things:
"The NATO flag is raised today outside the Riksdag building. This symbolic act shows our will to, together with other NATO countries, secure peace and freedom - not only for us who live here now, but also for future generations.
"Sweden wants peace" - that's what my grandfather Gustav VI Adolf and Prime Minister Tage Erlander wrote to Sweden's citizens in the 60s in the writing "Om kriget kommer". That's how it is also today! Sweden does not threaten anyone! Sweden wants peace!"
