I am going to this exhibition in 2 weeks and am massively looking forward to seeing the jewellery of Margrethe. Hopefully I can report back with pictures

Hope you have a good time, we look forward to seeing the pictures.

It works for me, I see an instagram shot from the Amalianborg museum with a photo of the Queens 3-strand pearl necklace with diamond leaves and emeralds at the bottom of it. Under the photo it says that the necklace was a gift from King Hassan II of Morocco.

I am glad it does. Sometimes….it is Apple that gets in my way!!! Oh well. Thanks.

Yesterday i visited the Jewellery exhibition in Copenhagen - i hope to find a way to post some pictures later. It was a stunning display - I really recommend it, the jewels especially the big pieces and tiaras and beautiful

But some things struck me - the audio guide referred a number of times to the appropriate time to pass jewels on to the next generation. For some items its important to pass on whilst you are alive and others simply through inheritance. This made me ponder what the Queen will continue to pass to Mary, Isabella, Josephine etc whilst she is alive and what will passed on when she dies.

Also, the commentary mentioned the difficulty the Queen has in wearing the golden poppies and that they have not been as successful or easy to wear as much as the Queen had hoped.

I checked my pictures of this necklace from the exhibition and it says from the display information on the side “Necklace in red gold with pearls, emeralds and brilliant cut diamonds - made by the jewellery company Boucheron, Paris. Gift”. But it does not specify whom, and on many other descriptions it gave more precise information about who made the gift

Tiaras from the exhibition - the Palmette tiara was breathtaking.

The Golden poppies were my least favourite.

I was surprised when i saw the Greenland Nassaut tiara, it impressed me and is more beautiful in real life.

Thanks, PrincessofEurope :flowers:

I imagine QMII - or Mary? - Will modify the Golden Poppies tiara at some point.

That floral break-apart thing (tiara/hair brooch) she loves is just gorgeous.

Wonder why QMII has not already rearranged the poppies. Think the would look much better if they re arranged in a row and more in the style of a traditional tiara.

Because she feels this is something the one who is going inherit them should do? To whatever taste, style and head that person has. Probably Mary.

I presume you mean the Floral Aigerette. It is lovely indeed.

Some more pieces from my visit on Monday

I especially loved the emerald and diamond pendant which belonged to Margrethe’s grandmother.

Gifts from Prince Henrik - they reflect the Queen’s unique creative taste. Unfortunately these pieces and others that Henrik gifted to the Queen are not my taste in jewellery

The Queen Alexandrine’s sapphire set was beautiful - the colour of the sapphires was rich

Pearls aren’t necessarily to my taste - but nevertheless the necklace was a beautiful piece. The Queen has a stunning collection of important historic jewels and seeing this exhibition was a real treat.

Displays of necklaces, earrings, brooches and rings. The Queen has a unique style and loves flamboyant pieces

The horseshoe brooch her father gave her and that she wore on the day she was proclaimed Queen - the commentary mentioned how important this piece is to the Queen and that’s why she choose to wear it on the day she was proclaimed Queen following her father’s death

Unfortunately when i was at the exhibition the Daisy brooch was out for use which is a shame as i really wanted to see this piece

2 Pieces the Queen as given to Princess Isabella

- the triangular brooch with brilliant cut diamonds, white pearls and pink pearl - Christening gift from Queen Alexandrine to her granddaughter Princess Margrethe in 1940. Later a christening gift from Queen Margrethe to her granddaughter Princess Isabella in 2007.

This story has a lovely symmetry to it. A queen to her granddaughter for the christening gift

- (ITEM 9) Pendant in gold with brilliant cut diamonds and sapphires - attributed the the company Faberge c 1900. A gift from Queen Margrethe to Isabelle

The 4 strand pearl necklace with amethyst clasp was beautiful - I think it was a gift from Henrik for her 40th anniversary of her accession to the throne but i have forgotten

And a final picture of the Palmette tiara because it simply was stunning and i hope to see Mary in it one day

It seems that there are 8 poppies in the structure that goes on HM's head. HM has 8 grandchildren. It could be an idea to break the whole thing up and give each of them a little souvernir. It should be easy enough to make brooches out of these poppies.

Great idea. That is one way to ensure the poppies are never seen as a tiara! ?

Actually if find them not to bad. They are unique. I think Hm should try to wear the necklaces together with the Naasut tiara instead of wearing it with diamond Jewels.

The Princesses could turn them into brooches indeed - fab suggestion lets make sure it happens . The poppy tiara needs not be passed on as a tiara for future Danish royals to wear so breaking it up is an excellent idea ?

That was my silent wish behind the plan as well ;).

Thank you very much for posting these images PoE. It is very much appreciated as it is wonderful to see all the pieces, also the lesser known ones.

Why does Isabella have two family orders? (And does this mean she hasn’t given anything to Josephine or Athena (yet)?)
