Goodmorning.

DK is buzzing today!

It's also a happy day and people are ready to celebrate.
I have no idea how many will be in front of Christiansborg today, but it will be a lot! The first have already taken up position at Christiansborg. Including a few Australians.
Packed trains and buses and cars are rolling in from all over the country with people who look forward to taking in the atmosphere and to show appreciation for QMII and support for M&F simply by being there.
There are of course people who complain but they are basically told to put a bucket over their heads. And there will of course be a few demonstrations here and there - but freedom of speech and this being a democracy, that's just how it is.
The general mood is that of joy and expectation. Because this is a happy occasion. QMII's get to see how appreciated she is while still alive and Frederik gets to see how much confidence and support there is for him and how people are happy for him. That would hardly be the case were QMII dead.
So the whole will be much more relaxed and and M&F and family will be able to cheerfully embrace the public support.
To quote myself: You'll see the Danish tribe go full royalist today.

The media has as usual gone crazy!
I just saw two elderly ladies going down a street as fast as their walkers could take them, being pursued by foaming journalists.
In Copenhagen hordes of camera crews are roaming the streets looking for prey.
Reporters with madness in their eyes are standing in front of Christiansborg telling the astounded viewers: When the Prime Minister has proclaimed Frederik king according to the proclamation, he will be a proclaimed king.

I don't like my country's own Royal Family, so I always considered Queen Margrethe as MY Queen, I just adore her. No King or Queen could ever compare to her.
Take kære Dronning for din tjeneste!

God bless the new King and Queen. You Danes are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful new reigning couple. :flowers:

(..)

I will post links to livestreams in the top post as they become available.

From dr.dk, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation:
https://www.dr.dk/drtv/kanal/20875

From the Daily Mail, but thus far just a live feed:

(..) I wanted to know who the band is that is playing. They are now at one of the palaces, but if a Danish speaker was watching a few minutes ago, they paraded through the streets, where did they originate from?

It's 6:29 AM here in NY and YouTube is broadcasting it Live here, find the one that is accessible in your area:

CRUX online (2.3 million subs) cam moves facing people and balcony

For Daily Mail - they are using the same cameras

Newzee in Denmark has a split camera with commentary

News9 Live also with live streaming using same camera

I'm watching 7News Australia
and look at the 01:13 mark, the most impressive gold and chocolate cake with the crown and pastries are on display at a Denmark store.

The above link for NewZee with the split screen is showing Fred and Mary's lives, from wedding to now, on the left side and the balcony live right now

It was the Danish Life Guards, parading from Rosenborg Castle to the Changing of the Guard at Amalienborg.

The last Changing of the Guard in the reign of Queen Margrethe.

Good morning and a massive congrats to Denmark from Toronto! Tuning into the DR livestream, even without English subtitles, but still feeling the excitement!

The final hour for Queen Margrethe II. as Queen Regnant of Denmark has begun.

In theory QMII can stand pen in hand at the State Council and say: I ain't signing. It was just a joke. - A good one, eh? Got you all fooled. :D

 Can you imagine if she said "It's an early April Fools Day joke, I'm not leaving!"

Muhler, I'm watching the live stream and love the people wearing those hat crowns.

If she went in took over the document and tear it in 2 pieces. Then she says how could you believe i would really abdicate

Lene Balleby and Annette de Scheel already on their way to Christiansborg.

Watching the whole thing on DR1 - and it's a good coverage, not over the top.
My favorite the former chief of protocol, Christian Eugen Olsen is there, so we will be well informed with a good deal of humor.

The streets of Copenhagen are packed!
The police expect 150.000 at Christiansborg. I don't think it's possible to have more people there. But the streets along the routes where QMII will drive are also packed to capacity.

I'm glad that despite the weather, the Danes are turning out for all of this. Hopefully, QMII takes from this that she's beloved by her people, no matter what.

Muhler, is there an open link to Danish TV available for the world? So far, the one we are connected to is showing the same camera street level angle.

Never mind, I found it here at the start: https://www.dr.dk/drtv/kanal/20875 and my browser translated the text to English. Just right click your mouse over the page and select Translate.

The police have had to close access to the route QMII is to follow, there are simply too many people.

Does anybody know why Queen Margrethe will not be present at Christiansborg when her son is proclaimed from the balcony?

They are on their way!!!! This is so exciting.

They have left Amalienborg.

This is history.

The last time an abdication took place in DK was in 1146.

The event has started! We can see the Queen in the carriage and the crowd is cheering
