The Queen: Girls of GB&I
Duchess of Cornwall: The Delhi Durbar (I hope!)
Duchess of Cambridge: Lover's Knot
Princess Anne: Meander
Countess of Wessex: Aquamarine
Duchess of Sussex (if she goes): Queen Mary Bandeau
Princess Eugenie (if she goes)...MAYBE the Greville Emerald (her wedding tiara).

Honestly I'd love to see some of the wear something different that is sitting in the vaults. But I figure we will see the usual ones.

So do I!! She has only worn it once, I think, and it looked so good on her.

If Catherine wears Diana's sapphire & pearl choker (please, please), I'd like it with the Lovers Knot tiara & the pearl & diamond earrings from the Queen Alexandra wedding gift parure (Catherine has already worn the necklace). I think these earrings rather than longer drops would throw even more emphasis on the choker.

Or how about the sapphire and diamond fringe earrings she wore previously, with the choker and the Lovers Knot tiara?

Yes they'd look good too - need someone to photoshop a mock-up so we can try out variations!

I don't think it has been broken up but it's convertible and can be worn as both a brooch and as a part of the choker.

Not sure if the sapphire choker / brooch is convertible, or now solely a choker.

Same with Camilla's pink topaz

Camilla's pink topaz was acquired as a brooch at auction, but I have never seen it used as a brooch. That said, prior to its current setting, it was used by the Duchess at least once (at a Princes Trust reception at Windsor) with a much longer pearl necklace with 3-4 strings.

If Catherine wears sapphires I'd love for her to wear a tiara with sapphires in it. Not the Queen's modern Sapphire tiara but that older one...Queen Mary's Sapphire Bandeau tiara

Somehow I doubt Catherine will debut a new tiara at a state banquet. The focus on state banquets is really on the Queen, and both Camilla and Catherine seem to dress relatively discretely so as not to attract too much attention. You will note that both the Lotus Flower and the Lovers Knot tiara's had their debut at the annual Diplomatic Reception rather than at state banquets.

I don't think they will debt anything new for this visit (well except Kate's new order). But I hope they would wear something they have only worn a few time before. E.g. The QEQM sapphire earrings or the Nizam necklace for Kate (which, both are buried by her hair in their previous outing:bang:). And the Delhi Durbar for Camila, please, PLEASE.

For the Swedish state visit to Ireland this month, I think Queen Silvia will wear the Connaught tiara.

I'm not having my hopes up high for the US visit. The Queen with the girls and the usual tiaras for Kate und Camilla. No Meghan, I guess, due to her maternity leave. And that's a pity, because I'm quite keen on seeing her with a tiara again.

I'm not sure about the Swedish SV to the Republic of Ireland. Maybe the Connaught tiara is too much of a reminder that the English once ruled in Ireland?

Yeah, I think the Connaught would be seen as quite tone deaf. The man who bought it (Queen Victoria’s son, the tiara was his wedding gift to his daughter when she married the Swedish CP), was at that time only one year removed from his term as the head of British military presence in Ireland, during a time that the Home Rule movement was really gaining steam, no less.

I don't know if this is allowed here, but I am dying to play fashion designer for Kate and Meghan (if she goes) at this State Banquet. I am certainly including jewels, so hopefully it fits here.:flowers:

For Kate: I have gone with an American theme

Tiara: Lover's knot (I would really prefer a different one, but this is the one she will probably wear)

For Meghan: I am going with a subtle American theme since she is sort of minimalist in her wardrobe, but I have blinged it up.

Other Jewelry: The bracelet and earrings from the Sapphire Tassel Demi-Parure (see pic above). And of course her wedding and engagement rings.

I feel the same. We won't see anyone debute any major things that would draw massive attention (except Catherines new royal victorian order). A State Visit is simply not the right occassion for that. And both Camilla and Catherine are well aware of their positions and won't try to outshine The Queen and First Lady Melania.

My primary guess for the Irish State visit was the Connaught Tiara but i also thought later that perhaps it might be inappropriate ? In any case, i am not expecting Queen Silvia in any of her big guns. Perhaps the Baden Fringe Tiara or the Amethyst Tiara if she doesn't wear any of her "british tiaras"...

There are so few occasions for wearing tiaras that it's difficult to avoid debuting new pieces at state occasions. The addition of the RVO for Catherine will attract lots of cover anyway so she could add Diana's sapphire choker without it being seen as drawing attention from the Queen.

If Meghan attends, it almost doesn't matter what she wears because as the most recent HRH, there will be lots of coverage of her anyway so again, she could debut some of Diana's pieces without increasing the attention. I doubt she'd be loaned any tiara other than the Queen Mary's bandeau she wore at her wedding.

I think that Queen Silvia will wear the emerald necklace for the Irish visit, which means that it will be a all diamond tiara with that. The Baden fringe is a good guess, because the 9-prongs might be considered to big.

The Queen Mary diamdon bandeau will be on display at Holyroodyhouse Palace short after the State Vist with the Wedding exhibtion. So even if Meghan attend it will perhaps not be avalible for her to wear.

Baden Fringe Tiara is my new favourite guess if she leaves the british tiaras at home. There is also the Modern Fringe Tiara. Silvia wore it to the State visit in Australia. Unless it is with Madeleine in Florida but i hope she is keeping it in the Royal Jewel Vault in Stockholm for safety reasons to avoid the same fate as Princess Christina's tiara.

Could the Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara work together with the Emeralds ? Victoria has worn it with Cameos and that was a huge success. Princess Christina wore it once with the Pink Topazes. That worked. But i don't think anyone has worn it with the emeralds ?

I think the emerald necklace, paired with the Nine-Prong or the Baden Fringe have a good chance of appearing.

Happy to run with your theory :flowers:

The US Visit is in one month and baby Sussex hasn't even arrived yet. So I really don't think that Meghan will attend that State Banquet. Let's hope that autumn will see another incoming State Visit, so that we will then see her again with a tiara.

Kate seems to have settled on the lover's knot tiara, and she wears it well. I don't expect her to wear anything else while being Duchess of Cambridge. But she tends to get some great necklace loans from the Queen, so I hope for some lovely necklace for her.

Hope to see the Belgian King and Queen make a State Visit to UK soon too. It was way too long since. I know the Belgian Royals and the British Royals haven't been on the best of terms over the years but with a new King and Queen in Belgium it is time to bury the hatchet !

Hopefully after Princess Elisabeth turns 18 on 25:th October so she can participate too ;)

What do you mean ? All Kings of the Belgians, except Albert II and now Philippe, were made Knights of the Garter.

Because all King's' of the Belgians except Albert II and (so far) Philippe have paid State Visits to UK.

Now we are in the tiara thread and i have been warned before by admins for going off topic so i won't discuss this further here. Perhaps there is a thread in the "Royal Family of Belgium" section where we can continue that discussion...

Some thoughts:

> All lovely pieces individually

> Kate: Not sure she would like to go to a state banquet dressed like a parody on the Union Jack!

> Meghan: The Queen is unlikely to lend her jewels from the Royal Collection, especially those that she is currently using. Perhaps HM might lend her some of her own private jewellery, or I am sure there is a demi-parure or two Charles and / or the Queen would have given her. Perhaps she has a necklace that matches the earrings she wore at her wedding reception in the evening?

If the Strathmore Rose Tiara is in excellent condition, do you think that Queen Elizabeth II would loan it to Catherine?

Would be lovely but i think Catherine will stick to the 3 tiaras she has worn so far (especially lovers knot) for as long as she is Duchess of Cambridge.

The Queen already made a great exception for Catherine, when she loaned her three different tiaras so early on in her years as a Royal. So I completely agree with you that Catherine won't debut a fourth tiara while being Duchess of Cambridge. Given that she hasn't worn her first two tiaras since she started wearing Queen Mary's lover's knot tiara, I don't even expect to see anything else for the time being.

I agree with you. The QM Lovers Knot is now her regular tiara, and she is unlikely to wear any others in a hurry.

If she does I'd be pleasantly surprised as I've always loved the photos of that tiara - so pretty - but she's never worn it herself or loaned it to anyone (even her daughter). I don't think Princess Margaret ever wore it either so perhaps there's a reason eg the QM didn't want anyone else to wear it for sentimental reasons or maybe it's uncomfortable to wear & they don't want to alter it to make it wearable.

Agreed here too. I think they might want to save something for adding when Catherine is Princess of Wales.
