Summer Holidays at Balmoral: 2023 -

It tends to be used when they need to travel or stay overnight. It takes away the need for paying for hotel rooms and provides a secure environment.

I wonder how long C&C will be basing themselves at Balmoral for.

They are back in London. Both have had a number of engagements in the capital over the past week including Charles having returned to meetings with the PM and a Privy Council.

It seems that Charles followed the late Queen and went to Balmoral in late July and remained until after the second Sunday in October just as she used to do. Of course there was the break for the visit to France and Camilla also had an engagement or two in London.

Charles did a number of engagements in northern Scotland while up there which the late Queen rarely did. Sometimes she had no engagements for the best part of August and September (and not just in her later years but right from the beginning of her reign)>

Today, King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince and Princess of Wales, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and son James, and Tim Lawrence. for Sunday service in Crathie Kirk.

How lovely! You can see from one of the photos on the DM article that Prince George was in the back of the car with his parents

King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and husband Tim attended Sunday church service at Crathie Kirk at Balmoral today, September 1. Prime Minister Keir Starmer attended as well:

Very poignant that Lady Saltoun, the wonderful Flora, has died during the Balmoral Season. Flora was one of the most lovely members of the extended Royal Family. She died yesterday aged 93 in her house near Balmoral. RIP.

The king hosted the PM,Sir Keir Starmer today at Balmoral

Preparations must be underway ahead of the annual Summer holidays at Balmoral!

I guess King Charles is staying at Castle of Mey next week ahead of Mey Highland Games next saturday where he is Chieftain… And then likely heads to Balmoral

I suspect he will stay at Birkhall, which has been his Scottish home since 2002 and was where he spent the covid lockdown. He might go across to Balmoral Castle occassionally e.g. the weekend he hosts the PM and the one where he hosts the Scottish First Minister but otherwise he will leave his siblings and cousins to enjoy that while he and Camilla enjoy their own home.

Yes, I suspect the same. Charles may stay at the Castle when hosting guests or even for some family gatherings but I suspect he and Camilla will largely be based at Birkhall. Aug 10th still gives a good three weeks or more for those with children to visit while schools are off and for most of Charles' siblings and their children this is not an issue itself.

My understanding is that C&C spend a fortnight staying at Balmoral, and the rest of the time at Birkhall. It is during that fortnight they host most of the family and the PM.

Yes this is how it is done since the death of the Queen. I think when other family members go up now they stay in lodges and not the castle. It's my understanding that the castle is only lived in for the couple of days the PM is there.
