Hmmm, for me, it's too formal. I don't remember either Christian or Isabella looking that formal for birthday photos at the age of 13. I know they'll probably release more photos in the next 24 hours, but this just seems like two kids playing grown ups.

Looks like the photo is taken on Christian's 18th birthday. Same photographer, same outfits as in the official photos released back then.

I think these are fine, considering their father is about to become King of Denmark. I am hoping to see some that their mother has taken. She is quite a nice photographer too.

Looks like photoshop indeed. Josephine's sleeves had to be partially recreated as she was slightly standing behind her sister in the original.

What a wonderful new photo of the Princely twins to mark their 13th BIrthday!

How the time flies...

Both Josephine and Vincent play soccer and are in clubs.

That's nice.
It's good that the children are physically active. Both FX&QM have previously spoken about the difficulty of dragging away their children from their electronic devices. (In other words: Their children are perfectly normal.) Female soccer has for many years now been a growing thing here in DK. First with women attending soccer matches and to be honest that's not a bad thing! In some cases the mood at the games were positively neanderthal. But now it is also increasingly common for women to actually play soccer, for real. Also past the dreaded sixteen, where quite a few girls have a tendency to become couch-potatoes, and continue to play soccer after entering adulthood. It helps that our female national team do pretty well.

But talking about being physically active. The government has just proposed a plan to introduce mandatory conscription for women in DK, from 2026 and as the government has a majority that is almost certain to pass.
Now, that will involve Isabella and Josephine. They will now be called up to appear before the draft-board when they are around 18, where they will go through a physical check-up and be asked whether they will volunteer for conscription and if there are not enough volunteers some will be called up even if they don't really want to. It is pretty much, not expected, but considered a very positive signal if Isabella and/or Josephine sign up for volunteer conscription.
They wouldn't exactly be alone. Females right now constitute around 26% of the conscripts. - Personally I think it's a healthy thing. Within certain physical limits women can perform pretty much every task an average soldier can, also in combat roles. (Tank-crew, machine-gunner to mention a couple of examples of female combat-troops who have seen action.) And there are countless supporting tasks that females will have few physical problems undertaking. So I'm all for female conscription.
It will of course be very interesting to see what the Royal Family will do.

with recent changes in laws look like We could get our first Danish princesses serving in the the military
What do you mean? I don't recall Margrethe and her sisters taking military training when they were the first three in line; now there is one in second and another in fourth place.

Edit: I see; this is not about changes in royal laws but in a general law about conscription. However, if I understand it correctly, it is voluntarily unless there are not enough conscripts? Do you expect that Isabella and Josephine will be pressured to volunteer?

However, the law only comes into effect in 2026, that would mean it only applies to Josephine as Isabella will turn 18 before that.

There is mandatory conscription for all Danish men right now. While women can volunteer.
The new law will make conscription mandatory for all men and women from from 2026.
- It is expected that most will volunteer but as the number of conscripts will increase and the service be lengthened (more on that below) it is also expected that some who haven't volunteered will also have to be called up. - That will depend on the number you draw at the draft board.

Service length will increase, because the conscripts after basic training will now also undergo specialist training and become a part of the standing army for that year they serve. Then they will be send home and depending on their unit called up a couple of times in the years to come, as they will now be a part of the mobilization-reserves.
That's how it was in my time, during the Cold War. - In the past 20-25 years most conscripts were only called up for a few months of basic training and that meant that nearly 100 % were volunteers and that was basically a recruitment drive for the regulars.

Isabella may not be called up, when she is 18. That's very common, if you are in the middle of an education, you will usually be allowed to finish that education before being called up. In this case high school, or that first leg of whatever education she wish to have. So Isabella could be 19 or 21 before she is called up. - And if she volunteer, which I believe there is some expectation for her to do, she could be called up when she is 18.
Josephine however can expect the appear before the draft board, and as she appears to be fine both mentally and physically there is a chance she might be called up, even if she does not volunteer.

Of course both Josephine and Isabella and Vincent too for that matter may opt not to serve in the military. In which case they may be called up to serve in the Civil Defense or another civilian function - for these 12 months.

We are back to the "good old days" of the Cold War. Thanks a lot, Putin.

I recall seeing photos of Margrethe doing military training. I think it was with the Air Force.

And, I seem recall reading something recently about Benedikte having just celebrated an anniversary of many years of service to the Home Guard.

Anne-Marie married so young, she wouldn't have had time to serve in the Danish forces.

The photos are lovely! Isabella is blossoming into a beautiful young lady.
I wonder if she is called Bella by her family and friends? Her necklace has the initial “B”.

I had the same thought about the B Necklace.

Lovely photos.

I've heard Frederik and Christian call her Bella. Very cute

A nice gallery of Isabella

And the dogs and horses photographed with the family over the years, with a koala in the mix too.

The caption says Coco is the only dog of the Royal Family, so I guess Grace has gone to doggo heaven? :(

In fact it doesn't.
The caption says "den ene hund" = one of the (two) dogs.
Otherwise it would simply be the royal family's hund. So it seems Grace has not left for the big lamppost in the sky yet.

Thanks for the clarification! I read a different caption somewhere (poorly translated to German). That's why I was surprised.

Thank you Muhler for always providing Danish lessons. Google translate isn't enough.
Makes following the Danes great

"As some of you may have noticed, yesterday we sailed with the flag on Princess Isabella. Yesterday was the ship's godmother, H.K.H Princess Isabella's 17th birthday 🇩🇰
And what a great flag-weather it was with sunshine and fresh air to breathe life in Dannebrog.
The last of the pictures is from 6. June 2015 when H.K.H. Princess Isabella christened the ferry. This event was also the Princess's first official act.
The captain, the crew and the rest of us from Samsø Shipping wish H.K.H. Princess Isabella a big congratulations on the 17 years."
