The Imperial Couple's Short Visit to Malaysia today and tomorrow

Today Saturday 10 June 2006, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan arrived from Singapore at Sultan Azlan Shah State Airport in the state of Perak in Malaysia. They begin 1 and half day visit to Malaysia today. The Imperial Couple fulfilled their promise to visit this state since they cancelled their visit to this place 15 years ago due to thick haze.

The screen caps from national tv just now showed they were welcomed by Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah and his sister. Many schoolchildren waved both flags as they were ushered to the Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar to meet the Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Muhibbudin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Bainon.
Here are some pictures of their arrival from BERNAMA

Court clean-up for Kelantan’s royal magistrate

19 Jun 2006
Sheridan Mahavera

KOTA BARU: Renovations are being done to the Kota Baru court complex in anticipation of the appointment of the State’s first woman magistrate, who is expected to be none other than the daughter of Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Ismail Petra.

Tengku Amalin A’ishah Putri, who turns 22 on June 26, is expected to report for duty at her post some time next week.

The princess, Sultan Ismail Petra’s only daughter, graduated from the International Islamic University last month with a bachelor’s degree in Law.

She is the youngest of the Sultan’s four children. Her siblings are Crown Prince Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra, Tengku Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra and Tengku Temenggong Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra.

A check at the Kota Baru court complex showed that parts of the buildings, such as a portion of the walkways and bathrooms, were being renovated.

Court officials have remained tight-lipped, while palace officials have refused to comment.

Once Tengku Amalin takes up the post, she will join the ranks of other notable royals who have served in the judiciary such as Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah, a former Lord President of the Federal Court (now Supreme Court).

Such a tragic incident to happen to such a nice family. It's heart wrenching to see the Sultan of Pahang weeping. Just shows how all of us are normal human beings with feelings. :(

Reports: Son kills Malay princess
Wednesday, July 26, 2006 Posted: 0337 GMT (1137 HKT)

A Malaysian princess was stabbed to death by her son as she tried to stop him from attacking her husband, news reports said Tuesday. The son later died of an apparent drug overdose.

Tengku Puteri Kamariah -- whose brother is Sultan Ahmad Shah, ruler of the eastern state of Pahang -- died Monday afternoon at her home in Pekan town, Pahang, The Malay Mail and The New Straits Times reported.

The woman's son, Tunku Rizal Shahzan, 21, ran at his 74-year-old father wielding a screwdriver, the reports said. Puteri Kamariah intervened and was stabbed in the ensuing struggle.

The father, Tunku Ismail Tunku Sulaiman, was hospitalized with slash wounds to the stomach, The Star newspaper reported.

Rizal later died in a hospital from an apparent drug overdose, The Mail said.

Its very sad news indeed. The picture of the Sultan crying is heartbreaking.
May the princess rest in peace.

My condolences to the family. It's a tragedy from all angles. It just goes to show that drugs only ruins lives.

My radar went on when I read her son, the killer, died later on at the hospital. Makes me wonder what drug he on or, if it was something else. In our state we have cases of that drug PCP that became the cause of people going crazy and going in murderous rampage. I remember a local case in our newspapers where a man used it, walked around the city streets with a gun and gunned down two ladies sitting in a balcony, one died the other one escaped.
Here are the symptoms with PCP
...Also known as angeldust. Probably the scariest of all drugs. Was used as a horse tranquilizer. Makes the user hallucinate, become extremely violent, and not feel anything. People have been known to do horrible things to themselves while under the influence of PCP...
