Pearls are the ideal mourning jewels, as it represents "tears of the sea".

I really like this tiara but I do prefer this tiara on Her Majesty The Queen. Here are two great posts on the Amethyst tiara...
I have never seen Queen Silvia wearing it before, so it could have a connection to Kuwait.Queen Silvia with an interesting necklace today in Kuwait at the Mentor press conference. I haven't seen better photos of it.

For the Croatian state dinner, Queen Silvia was indeed wearing one of her several contemporary emerald sets (this one was first seen in 2002) but with different, new earrings, as mentioned by Josefine:Not sure if it is emeralds or sapphires, but any which way, the demi-parure looks lovely.
That would really be fun!we have #1 set and #2 set of emeralds, will we see the diamond necklace with a small emerald pendent or the "tie" emerald set tonight?

...in Croatia.
If it was Austria, she'd be wearing a tiara, but probably no ugly dress designed by Natan.
