I hadn't noticed the huge emerald pendant. Is this the first time she is wearing it ?
No, I think the first time was in Australia a few years ago.

Emeralds in Eire ,the queen pulled out all the stops tonight and looked majestic.

Thank you Max for breaking out the emeralds. She wore the rivière with the large drop before with this dress. But this time what I think was a brooch was added

Wow you can always count on Max to pull out all the stops on tours jewel wise. Stunning in emeralds on the emerald isle :flowers:

No, I think the first time was in Australia a few years ago.

IIRC the first time she has worn the emerald was at the 70th birthday party for King Harald, when she was still pregnant of Princess Ariane.

She has also worn the cabouchon emerald during the state visits to China (2015), Australia (2016), Portugal (2017) and now to Ireland (2019).

The emerald belonged to the first Wilhelmina of Prussia, wife of Stadholder Willem V. The emeralds in the parure also belonged to her, though the present parure dates from the turn of the century.

The tiara was a gift of Queen Emma to her daughter Queen Wilhelmina. Apparently Wilhelmina received the tiara at christmas eve 1896, as was written in her letters to Miss Saxton-Winter). According to Edwin Fellner the side emeralds were attached much later. They were a gift from Queen Emma to her daughter in 1926, to celebrate Wilhelmina's silver wedding. They were inherited from the Waldeck-Pyrmont family.

The brooches, bracelet & necklace date from 1899 and were made for Queen WIlhelmina by the jeweller Schürmann & Co, from Frankfurt.

Really there could be no other jewels more fitting in Ireland - they are stunning and I think are probably my favourite of the Dutch jewels.

One of the Royal Rivieras, the Emerald brooch ...and the Cabachon drop!!!!! Stunning!!! Love the Dutch emeralds!! The bracelet and her personal emerald earrings are Beautiful too!!

The eearruing Queen Máxima wore for Ascot are 2 of the diamonds of the Stuart tiara if i could see uit right.

I think that Máxima has made a mistake with her jewelry on this visit.

Yesterday was the important event, the historic event where she should have worn the important family jewels like Queen Elizabeth and Queen Letizia did. Both queens wore earrings of large diamonds that had belonged to Queen Mary and Queen Victoria Eugenia ... while Maxima wore some modern stones that did not match the historical importance of the event.

Today at Ascot, which is a more relaxed event, without that historical importance ... she wears the Stuart earrings and a diamond bracelet, when all the ladies of the British Royal Family wear simpler jewelry.

Ascort us a big deal and Maxima looked great.

Oh well, Queen Maxima's "Christmas Tree" dressing is normal. At least her smiles are very beautiful. To me, the earrings are too much for Royal Ascot and would only suit a royal wedding or a coronation or a grand evening event. As well, I don't think I've ever seen that bracelet before. Is it an Orange Foundation one or one of Queen Maxima's personal collection pieces?

Perhaps she knew that a number of BRF ladies would be wearing the color of the Argentine flag. Yesterday was important, but today may be a softer but equally important diplomatic event. Read the papers.

Exactly the lack of jewels made Queen Máxima's appearance stand out with her crisp and sober appearance, every inch a Queen.

She has so many earrings, but of course these diamonds once were bought for a British-born Dutch Princess whom became Queen of England, Schotland and Ireland. Apart from the earrings the Queen restricted herself more or less, as her Ascot outfit was relatively simple, apart from the hat (as should be at the races).

Much as I loved seeing Maxima wearing those gorgeous jewels at Ascot, I do agree with the previous post that it might have been better had she worn these to the Garter service.

It is a diamond trellis bracelet Queen Máxima took out of one of the cassettes of the family collection: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/image...d307215889a3e37a4235431fa632fd548ed27deaf.png

I really like the swan brooch and had thought it was new until I read the article and it has indeed been seen before.

A few weeks ago Queen Máxima visited Culemborg. A shop-owner decided to give special coffee and tea melanges from her own shop Thee Zusje ("Tea Sister") to the Queen. And she chose a ring, from the brand IXXXI, from her other shop opposite, Tante Kado ("Auntie Gift"). With the lady from that shop she guessed Máxima's size. When the Queen passed they handed gifts to her or her escorte.

They thought: we will NEVER see it again, but to their big surprise the Queen wore their ring for the recent photo session! It is not an expensive ring: two bands of zirconia flanking a band of porcelain, red-white-blue, like the Dutch flag. But apparently Máxima was very happy with the gift.

What a lovely story! It is small things like this that will endear Max to a lot of people.

Queen Máxima wore for Prisnjedday today the Stomacher from the Mellerio ruby Parure in a smaller Setting. Is it the same Setting she has already worn for the Dilpmatric Dinner 1 or 2 years ago or a different Version?
