Queen Beatrix News Thread, Part 2 (Oct 2004-Aug 2005)

October 30, 2004, Queen Beatrix welcomes Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, in Netherlands for a two day visit. The President will be attending the 60th anniversery of the liberation of the Dutch city of Breda by Polish soldiers.

I must say that particular color looks really good on Beatrix, it brightens her up...;)

Very nice seeing Maxima there.

Do u know the late Queen Juliana? What should we call her?Because during her funeral, sometimes i saw Princess Juliana, sometimes Queen Juliana. Why?

AFter her abdication she was styled as Princess Juliana (it was her own wish, she said that she should not want to stay queen for a little). After her death the court issued a statement that Juliana will henceforth be referred to as 'Queen Juliana' again.

PS Beatrix means 'she who maks happy' .. that is qhy Juliana chose this name (as she did with Irene = 'she who makes happy' and Margriet (daisy = symbol of the dutch resistance during WWII)

Queen Beatrix looks older in this picture. She also appears tired. Has anyone else noticed that? I bet it is because of the recent situations in the Netherlands.

Yes, that's true.

When she visited the victims of the horrible fire in Volendam she looked like this also. She seems very moved with all the people there.

I really like the first one from the concert..

Why does she uses her old car again?. has it something to do with the fact that the new car has a lower roof ?

another pic....

She certainly looks very happy, its nice especially after the visit to the Moroccan students about Theo Van Gogh, she looked so sad there....

Yes you are very lucky to have such a wonderful, caring, human Queen. God must really love the Dutch people, if he didn't, he'd have given you the Windsors as your royal family. Long live Queen Beatrix.
