Very happy news.
I found out about it as I was watching the news tonight, it was just a little headline crawl at the bottom of the screen saying Princess Letizia of Spain is pregnant. Still it was unusual since European royals hardly ever make the news on Canadian tv, except for the British royals ofcourse.
Felipe and Letizia's wedding did get good air play here last year though, more than the Danish wedding.
Congrats to Felipe and Letizia and the Spanish royal family.
So many royals expecting babies this year.
I think we'll be seeing a lot of stylish maternity wear

OMG, I just read that Letizia is pregnant. So, two of my wishes came true this year, I wanted Letizia and Mary to be pregnant and they are . I think now all the crown princess are pregnant, except of course the Duchess of Cornwall, you never know, the next "good news" might be from England.

Anyways, BIG Congratulations to the couple, the would-be grandparents, would-be aunts and uncles, would-be cousins and last but not the least, the Spanish people,who are getting an heir to the heir of the Spanish throne.

Congratulatoins to Letizia and Felipe! This is fantastic! I was afraid that they would get left behind in the current baby boom so I'm glad they didn't. I'm excited that so many of the princesses are pregnant, so many pictures we will soon have! So salutations to them and to the Spanish people.

I belive that i just say this, but my mother is nurse. And i ask that is naturel Letizia is so skiny. She said that many womens lost a lot of weist in the frist month but that the brest grow and look well .........

The heir to the Spanish throne, Prince Felipe, expressed his and Princess Letizia's joy at the expected birth of their first child next November.
"The princess and I cannot hide the happiness we feel regarding the impending birth of our first child. Our desire to start a family is thus fulfilled," Felipe said during an official visit to Spain's Balearic Islands.

The birth will "reinforce stability and institutional continuity," Felipe said.

"We wish to associate you with our joy and satisfaction as this reinforces stability and institutional continuity (to allow) the crown's best service to Spain," said Felipe, 37, who was accompanied by Letizia, a former television news presenter.

Letizia is three months pregnant, the royal palace announced on Sunday.

The 32-year-old Princess of Asturias, married the heir to the Spanish throne last May.

If the child is a boy then under current Spanish legislation, which the Socialist government is seeking to change, he would eventually become king in Felipe's stead, whereas a baby girl, if she has a brother, would not be able to ascend the throne unless the rules were amended.

That would require various constitutional amendments as well as a dissolution of parliament and a referendum.
